SID and Montessori

My DS is now 3 and 4 months and was recently diagnosed by an OT with SID. I'm very confused by many things right now, but the main thing is the preschool situation. He is in a Montessori preschool, and I'm not sure if I should keep him there. He has a lot of trouble deciding how he wants to spend his day, he doesn't want to take a nap, and he has tantrums. The feedback that I'm getting from the school is mixed, but they agree that they'd like to have his OT come by and observe/make recommendations. This is great, but I'm still not sure if Montessori is right for SID kids, or if you can even make that kind of generalization. Either way, I'm struggling with whether it is right for my son. Any experience out there with this? TIA.

I can't say about the school for sure. Leanna was treated and observed in Preschool and it was great for her. They were able to see what her needs were and meet them.

I fully agree with sellb06, my sons first year of pre-school was heart wrenching! I moved him to a Montessori, with an OT and the combo was wonderful. Very Successful!

Good luck, and hope you find a great fit. ~ Marfy, love my red

I just realized that there were responses on this board! Thanks so much.

We've been out of school for a couple of weeks, and things have been a little crazy around here. The OT recommended using a schedule on a daily basis, and the results have been amazing!

OT is planning on visiting the school in the next few weeks, and I'm thinking about the weighted blanket. I found a site (Stitches by Anne) where you can buy custom made ones. Anyone have a different resource?

Thanks for the insight! Still struggling, but it's starting to make sense.
