I only had 1 OT I could use with my insurance & she seemed to be stuck in a world where she was not sure if she wanted to continue her business or absorb her social life.

So I finally decided, if SPD/SID is not cureable, it's basically something one learns to deal with, then why not play therapy. Well, it turns out the only therapist I could find in the area & under my inusrance, though he advertises as play therapy, I think he's more of a therapist with some play.

So I was nervous at first. He questioned why I thought SPD/SID rather than a MI such as ADHD (seeing MI runs deep on both sides of my DS' family). He made remarks of how my DS is probably ADD & we'll need to watch for it, etc. So I think I've been waiting for that door to open where I could slam it in his face .... but, ummm, things seem to be going somewhere.

For example, my son who has screamed & cried for every hair washing in the past 6 years decided he was ready for showers last night. He washed his hair & everything!

On his 6th birthday (last March) we went to get him a bicycle & after we decided on the one he wanted he asked that we do not get it, he was too scared to ride. Well, on the 4th we got him a bicycle anyway
