I'm glad I found this board (even if it's not the most active). We are having our 20 month old son evaluated by an OT for SID and screened for ASD. He has a lot of what you guys have described. My own mom and my husband's mom keep saying that he's fine and it's just his personality. But it's NOT normal! He is laughing and happy and literally a split second later, he is screaming.
Like you, I am fearful of taking him out. He gets anxious when there's a lot of people or noise around. He had his biggest meltdown ever at the zoo and now we feel like we can't go there anymore. I am so worried to put him in the church nursery or the gym childcare because most times, he just screams until we come get him. It's not normal. Now that it's interfering with our family life, it's time to get some help.
Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself on someone else's thread and say that you're not the only one who's worried and w/out a formal diagnosis.
