Tips for Picky Eaters...

This link was posted on the Asperger's board. We have had several people ask about food sensitivities, so I thought it might be relevant here.

Thanks for the link.

Unfortunately these have all been tried & none have work in my household. SHE CAN GET HER KIDS TO EAT BROCCOLI! HOLY COW SHE'S A LOT FURTHER THAN I AM.

Great news.

My son's elementary school has fund raising run. The week before the run they have a checklist for the kids to do to prepare for the run & if they bring it back w/parents signature for each day they are put into a drawing for some great prizes. In the 3 years there my DS has never turned this sheet in b/c there are 2 days of 'color.' One day it's 2 fruits of different colors & another 2 veggies of different colors.

My son does not eat fruit, veggies or meat.

But this year, his 3rd grade year, he came home all happy saying he was going to get a signature on all days this year.

Now he did actually eat a little fruit (a slice of apple & a couple of grapes) so that was a great success. The veggies ... well, they got into his mouth & chewed. The carrot was not swallowed, but the lettuce was :)

It was nice to not have it be ME trying to get him to eat. When he fussed I shrugged & said, 'this is your goal - not mine' and walked away from the table. He kept asking, 'how much do I have to eat?' and again I'd answer, 'this is your goal - not mine, you do what you believe should count.'

So if I could just find more ways for him to decide to take the challenge on himself that would be GREAT!!!
