I am new, but went on vacation last month and have spend last week and this one catching up at work, so I have had less tiem to hang out online. I am so excited to find a place where people understand SID. It is so hard to explain to people.

I try to check in daily but have not been posting too much... life has been getting the best of us here. My Grandmother is in the hospital following a stroke last month and another one last week. I spent last weekend in CT with my mother sorting through all of my Grandmother's things since we know she will never live outside the full care hospital again. It has been an emotionally draining experience.

I am still around, but haven't had time to post between losing the house to foreclosure, husband with new job, and the move it has been a little nuts. Hanna just got a rat- fun. It will be good for her to hopefully work thru some issues.

Things don't get any better. Anything new we go into the anxiety and panic attacks with now breaking out in hives from the nerves I guess-ugh. Not fun, but getting thru.

I am still around as well and check in at least once a week. Since Aidan was diagnosed with ADHD last month I have been lurking over on that board. I had a meeting with his school counselor to tell her about the ADHD diagnosis and she still thinks that the sensory stuff is one of his big problems. I have read in many books about how a lot of ADHD kids have sensory problems and so many things overlap with the two. We are still working on the behavior stuff as well and trying to accentuate the positive and not the negative and it does work I just have to remind myself to keep it up. Never a dull moment around here! Hope you all are doing well.

My son is likely ADHD along with the SID. I have just been avoiding the ADHD label since there is such a stigma to it. He is being evaluated by

How old is your son now? Aidan was diagnosed him with SID when he was 3 and at 4 they were talking about ADHD but the docs we went to thought he was too young to diagnose with it at that point but told us to keep an eye on it. He turned 7 last December and is in 1st grade. It wasn't really a big surprise last month when they did diagnose him with ADHD. I had been reading up on it before then and we did start taking the children's fish oil, DHA vitamins. I don't want to go the drug route if I don't have to and a this point I don't think I have too. I think the docs and the school are pushing the drugs a little but it is my son and my decision. I am exploring other options and like you said there are many other options. There are also so many other things that look like ADHD. On the ADD/ADHD board someone posted 50 things that mimic ADHD and it is amazing all the things listed. I think 2 or 3 is way too young to be labeled and put on drugs, that is just crazy. Keep me posted on how your son is doing and if they do give him the ADHD diagnosis, we could swap ideas and explore other options together.
