So back in September I received a Fall newsletter from our school district's Special Education director. Included with the letter was a survey which I didn't hesitate to fill out and send back. This survey was only for those parents with special needs children and took all of 5 minutes to fill out. Well yesterday I received the Winter newsletter from the director and he mentioned the results of the survey. Out of the 1400+ surveys sent out, only 10 responded! That absolutely floors me that so many parents couldn't take the time to do it. Even if they didn't find anything wrong with the program, they should have at least let it be known. Our Special Education programs are greatly underfunded, so we really need to make what we do have count. The best way to do that is with surveys like this. They have also started implementing the suggestions made from the surveys as well. At least I know I did my part to help Alex and others receive a better education.

I got a survey back in the fall from our City's special education department too. It took me a week or so but I did fill it out and send it back. I haven't heard the results from our survey, it would be interesting to know how many here filled it out.

I can't believe only 10 out of 1400 were sent back. It doesn't take long to fill out a survey. Like you said the special ed programs are underfunded and need all the help they can get.

I actually became a sub so that I could be as involved with my kids' school system as possible.
