If I do it! it is consider child abuse, if the school does it then it is a punishment no difference.

here is what has happened!

my son's school intermediate school district.

put him in a time out closet and closed the door in their class room.

when he said pee pee they didn't let him out and ignored him,

he then pooped all over himself in his pants and I walked in to pick him up and they were changing him and cleaning the closet floor.

They also tie him down in a chair to keep him in one place.

ever since the beginning of the year when he started this new class room

he has been getting more violent with hitting and kicking and I think it is because of how he is being treated at school.

we have had it at home!

I am talking to protective service this week to find out what they think!

probably will call Lansing also.

Jam,

No child should be treated like this at school or elsewhere. If your son has any special needs then the school is required, by law, to meet those needs within a classroom setting(at least that's the law in Ont.), including behavioural needs. Every child has a right to education, free from abusive measures. I am glad you are talking to protective services. Insist that something is done to protect your son or move him out of the class. Stories like this make my blood boil! Hugs to you and him.

Jam,

Good for you. These guys need to be reported.

Does your son have an IEP? Is this a special school or a regular one (makes no difference, they were still wrong, but I am curious)?

Hi there :)

It doesn't matter what kind of school it is, this is definitely child abuse and I would make sure they are reported immediately.

That is horrible!! You're right, if a parent did that, it would be considered abuse. I would pull him out of school, go to protective services, the police, the superintendent AND the media. What they are doing is heinous. Parents get their kids taken away all the time for much much less. I hope you can get this matter resolved soon for your son's sake as well as the rest of your family. Good Luck

Jam,

We have been there with our son. The school he was in before we adopted him was doing the same things. They even went as far as putting his name on the closet door. That was 3 years ago. We moved to another state last year and went to enroll him in school and it was a fight to even get him in the school doors in Sept when school started. He is still afraid to be in a public school because of what happened. He is in a special ed school now in a 6-1-1 class but still has issues of the past abuse by the 1st school.

Good luck. Go to everyone you can find that will listen and if they won't listen MAKE them. The teachers at his first school finally got removed and the social worker who was his case worker did also for not protecting him. Make your voice heard as well as your childs.
