Hi

I have a freind who has a 4 yr old who may have fetal alcohol syndrome. Lately he has been exhibiting behaviour that is very different from his personlality, he has fits and tantrums like you would expect from a "terrible 2's" and gets so enraged that he has bitten his mother on the face and hits her. I don't know if this is normal for this age range and that he is just trying to exert control? He also has develope a pattern where he will save little peices of hair and dust fluff, leaves etc. to the point where he is now hiding these things in his room cause his Mom is trying to stop this behaviour. I witnessed this 1st hand the other day when he was staring out the window at the kids mowing his lawn, he started screaming and freaked out - she carried him out and it turns out that there was a little dandilion on the lawn that he needed to pick. He is usually a mellow little fellow - very kind an loving. I have looked on the website eg. attachment to inanimate objects and it brings up a checklist for Aspergers syndrome. This also states that these children have problesm with change, follow routines - line things up in certain order, has trouble relating to peers, seems clumsy, which this little fellow seems to have. I have suggested that she see the pediatrician and ask for suggestions, any of you out there with words of wisdom?

Thanx

I'm afraid I can't answer your question, but you may want to cut-and-paste your post to the PDD-NOS /Aspergers board also. There are some really accomplished people over there who may be able to give ou some more direction.

good luck,
