Sorry I'm late. With the holiday and then some American family members arriving for a big birthday bash I have been away from the computer forever. On Canada day we all go to my Aunt's house for a BIG barbeque! And I mean all of us, there is my grandparents, my parents, my brother, me and my DH and the 2 kids. Then there is my Aunt and Uncle and my 2 cousins, who bring their wives and kids. And then there is my Aunt and Uncle who have the BBQ, their 2 sons, and their various girlfriends at the time, and sometimes some of their friends as well. We are the more the merrier bunch. Then afterwards we all go our separate ways to watch the fireworks, or go home, or meet up with friends. There used to be a concert on the Hill, in the city but they don't have all of that anymore (and if they did you'd have to pay...not like the old days!). So that's about it...our fireworks are no where near as elaborate as your 4th of July extravagnaza! Although I do watch your fireworks on tv!LOL

Sounds like a grand old time and one of our traditional family gatherings!

We are an extremely close family, so every holiday (by anyone's standards,LOL) we spend at least part of it with each other. And in my case, my family and my DH's family are also close so that they spend time with each other on holidays and birthdays. In fact my DH's grandmother's 75th birthday is this weekend, and my parents and grandparents are EXPECTED to come, the rest of my family is welcome as well. My DH's uncle from Toronto is down for it and when they showed up yesterday I had to call my paretns so that they could come to visit with him. The family (dh's aunt, uncle and cousins from Texas) are only here for a week, but we've already had a whole day, a golf date for the guys and a "friday night out" planned for us young and "hip" ones.LOL Then there is the party on Saturday!

I love spending time with my family and for the most part we all get along very well, but there are those days when it's like, "do we REALLY have to show up?" thankfully they are few and far between.
