Hi Maria, I was lucky and just started randomly looking on boards and found you guys. I don't know how the other people will. But I have an idea if you don't mind. I know there were some HOH kids on the hypotonia board and developmental delay boards. Can you post on those and let them know of the change? I'm sure there are other boards too where other people frequent. HTH. I'll be around!

Hello and welcome.

I haven't been around this board much this summer. It has been quite busy. I didn't know about the merger either and wondered what happened to Jan?

I have 4 kids,
Cait is 12, Aspergers, epilepsy, etc. was delayed in preschool, but now is classic aspie.

Mike is 10 and ASD with features of OCD, tourettes, mood lability, etc. One of his biggest issues is auditory processing. I have been asked by strangers if he is hearing impaired so I will be asking you all lots about that kind of stuff.

Emily is 8, gifted and SI issues - I have some concerns about her but things seem to be going ok. She can't seem to get things like "tomorrow" and "yesterday" straight and had vision therapy issues for a while. Was late to read but is labelled gifted now.

Dave is 6 and SID. He has had former diagnosis of PDD-NOS and ADHD and bipolar was also questioned, but I am not sure they are accurate. He does have seizures if he takes stimulant meds so there is a chance he may end up with epilepsy at some point in the future if he follows his sisters course. he has an abnormal EEG. I think all his challenges stem from his SID. He was taken off an IEP last year in K and is doing great in school. May need some speech again in the future. He is a challenging, spirited child but developing well with supps, diet, and behavioral supports at home.

Gina, when you said:

"There is nothing that references children w/ hearing loss in the directory of message boards. Parents who may be trying to find such a board for the first time, may be out of luck since there's nothing that references it. I only knew to look at special needs since that's what we were informed of."

I said, aloud, "Well, she really hit the nail on the head!" I think I had to go through 3 or 4 pages of the message board directory to find this board!

@Maria -- I wish you luck in taking this on. You are an angel, dear, and I really mean that. I'll be around, but probably not as active as I was on the HI board...

Hi Maria,

here to join you at our new home reluctantly as I'm still extremely disappointed with this move. I know parents of HI children need the support so I will continue to visit and lend my experiences.

There is nothing that references children w/ hearing loss in the directory of message boards. Parents who may be trying to find such a board for the first time, may be out of luck since there's nothing that references it. I only knew to look at special needs since that's what we were informed of.

I hope the brainiacs that initiated this move will realize this.

Hello and Welcome!!!

I've been kind of MIA and flaky this summer, so I didn't know anything about a board merger. It would be nice to see this board hopping again though.
I'm really looking forward to getting to know you better!!
