I'm Melissa, I'm 19 years old and was deafened shortly after birth.
I live in the United Kingdom, I am the only deaf person in my family. I was diagnosed as severely hearing impaired at 9 months. 7 years later my left ear progressed to a profound level. I got my cochlear implant at the age of ten. I wear a hearing aid in my right ear which is also profound. I am awaiting my next appointment in the stage of CI assessment to go bilateral.
