My ds is in the hospital

My youngest ds, 18yo, is the the hospital in the Behavioral Health Unit (psych ward). He was diagnosed 4 years ago with Bipolar Disorder, but he was old enough to refuse medication and has continued to. Apparently, he recently started cutting. He got bad enough last night, that he asked the Job Corps people to take him to the hospital.

His gf has let me know what is going on even though my ds did not want her to tell ANYONE. I thanked her for that. I will honor that and not call him. He will tell me. I know him well enough to know that. He's just embarrassed. We were going down (We're in WA; he's in OR) this weekend as planned. His gf would have no choice but to tell me at that point. So, I'll see him on Saturday. I suspect I'll hear from him before that, though.

I actually am surprisingly positive feeling about this. I *know* he's safe. I *know* he's going to accept the help that they provide him. I *know* his quality of life will be imporved vastly if he takes the meds. I'm just glad that he's getting help.

Anyway, I would ask for your prayers and positive thoughts for my ds right now. TYIA

I think it is positive that he had himself taken there. It shows that perhaps he is ready to deal with this and accept the BP and from that he can make real improvements in his life.

best wishes on your visit this weekend.
