Hello to everyone who reads my message. I am a graduate student currently taking classes within the area of Elementary Education. I decided enroll in classes within the special education area so I can get a better feel for and understanding of all my students. I believe all children are individuals and it is important to learn as much as I can about the needs and abilities of each and every one. I believe parents know their children better than anyone(being a mother of two myself), and are often overlooked as important sources of knowledge about their children. Anyways, this is my reason for focusing within the special needs area. I am asking a favor of anyone who is willing to share some of their stories with me in order to help me with an assignment to broaden my knowledge of some of the problems, criticisms and success parents of children with disabilities have experienced. Your help would be greatly appreciated and will hopefully help me in my goals of becoming a teacher who is able to relate well to both the parents of and children within my classroom.
