She's got her new ears!!!

Hello. I just found this board and wanted to write and say hi. My now 3 1/2 year old son was diagnowed with a severe to profound sensorineural hearing loss at birth. We tried hearing aids for the first 6-7 months, and at that point he refused to leave them in. We ended up getting him a cochlear implant, and it has been a god send. He can now speak and hears very well with his implant, however if he is not wearing it he can't hear anything really. I just wanted to suggest signing time to all of the parents of young hearing impared children. It was a fun and very easy way for me to pick up asl, and my son started signing at 6 months.
