Sudden ear pain that comes and goes??
Fri, 09-11-2009 - 2:35pm
My 7 yr old gets this wierd sudden ear pain usually in His right ear
this pain comes and goes within a few min. It happens a few times a week.
This has been going on for about two months. I took him in last week
to have his ears checked out they are clear they also checked the pressure
in both ears and that too is normal. What could be causing this? This
pain co es out of nowhere, it will just hit him at random times and it
brings him to tears. It usually o ly lasts no longer than 5 mins then it
might not happen again for a week other times it happens again the
same day. His dr just said come back if it gets worse. Well its not worse
but its not better either. Any ideas?? Next step is an ent but was hoping
someone else might have gone through this. Thank you

Thank you- its always been just one ear, the right one unitl
the other day when it happened for the first time
in the other. I beleive the pain is deep within
the ear. A little or more like a lot , history of my son,
he was diagnosed with cancer at the age of
21 months-3 yrs of chemo-no radiation finished
treatment at the age of 4 1/2 now 3 yrs off treatment
and doing well. Just last week he had an allergic
reaction to eggs- he has eaten eggs all his life no
problem until last week when I face him scrambled eggs
and itchy throat , coughing, throat feeling plugged up
blood test and scratchwd test confirmed very allergic
to egg whites moderate to yolk. He also has bad
allergies to ragweed. So maybe this is causing
the ear pain?? He also has huge tonsils which
qe saw an ent for last winter tonsils will come out this
yr if he has repeated cases of strep like last yr. I didnt
want to overflow you with all this info at first. I wantes
to see what your first thoughts were before you knew
all this heck i didnt want to scare everyone away either!

Please be sure to follow up with the ENT and have his hearing checked. When my daughter was 7 years old, she began having very similar ear pain. We didn't initially
