Waiter Michael Garcia deserves a round of applause and is getting it from grateful parents across the US.   He stood up for the family of Milo, a boy with Down Synrome, after another customer made comments about the boy.

A family sitting nearby asked to move away from  the Castillo family's table, and a man in the group made a disparaging remark about Milo.

“I heard the man say, ‘Special needs children need to be special somewhere else,’” Garcia told NBC affiliate KPRC-TV in. “My personal feelings took over, and I told him, ‘I’m not going to be able to serve you, Sir.’”

It's so great to see someone sticking up for a special needs child.  I'm sure that there are plenty more people out there that feel the same, but as stories such as these make the rounds, hopefully it will have a positive effect on their attitudes.

What would like to say to Mr. Garcia?

I would have told Mr Garcia thank you for how you handled it.

Unfortunately there are still some ignorant people out there.

Great Server to stand up for his feelings and for the child.

Amazing that there wasn't some loud outrage that happened to the party that wanted to move. I have no problem in those cases voicing my opinion to someones ignorance :D

I would say BRAVO!  It is so nice to hear about people doing the right thing.  I agree that others may think of doing the same thing but don't act on it in fear (what will happen to me if I say something, etc).  Good for Mr. Garcia!
