I am so upset that these boards have been merged. I fear that parents of newly diagonsed HOH or deaf children will have a hard time finding this board and will not get the same amount of help or information. Marie always had so much information and advice. I also wonder what will happen to all those loyal posters. This is really sad.

Hi there I didn't even know they where going to combine the two boards.Since we don't have a cl here we aren't privy to that kind of info. Hum maybe a board name change to reflect the two boards might help. Thanks for posting this info maybe with a combine board things will pick up?I am sorry they combined maybe we can make lemonade as they say?Welcome I hope I get to know more of you and your special child or children.

I've been a member of the hearing impairments board for over 5 years. This is very disappointing that the board has moved. You have to "dig deep" to find it. I feel sorry for parents of newly diagnosed children w/ hearing loss who are looking for such a board and will probably have difficulty finding it. This is such a slap in the face to parents of hearing impaired children.

I am sorry.I don't know why tptb changed your board over here.Did you board have a cl?If you did maybe they can say why it happened.

I don't know anything about hearing loss.My oldest ds is dyslexic and severely disgrapic. My younger ds has adhd sensory issues and a speech delay and possible other issues.

Welcome over to this board maybe a name change may help.Though our kiddos may have different issues maybe we can make this board work.

Maria was our CL on the Hearing Impairments board. It has been a very upsetting time for all. I remember when the "Vision Issues" board was shut down as well. I have to admit, there was no CL and not much traffic -- visual impairment is even lower-incidence than hearing loss and there are very strong national parent support groups with listserves for parents of children with visual impairments. However, with philosophical issues in the world of deafness, that sort of support is difficult. For example, my state has two different parent groups for visual impairment, both of which are affiliated with nation-wide groups and NONE for parents of children with hearing loss (yet -- working on getting a Florida chapter of Hands and Voices started).

As Gina said, this board was not easy to find from the main message board page. On the HI board, we had something like 3 new mommies find us in the past month or so. It's very discouraging...

Dawn (LOL we have the same name)

I have been in IV member for years and I remember back when they made loads of changes a few years ago and some boards were lost or merged. I still miss those boards as well. Unfortunately the special needs community is a very small but close one. There for our boards often don't have the traffic that other more fun boards may. But they are still of vital importance to us. Heck, sometimes it is a life line.

I am sorry you all lost your board. I truly want to welcome you and hope you find a new home here. I know as a former cl once tptb make a decision there is little hope of having it go back. So I hope we can all work together to make this a new wonderful home for parents. I also hope that there is some sort of way for HOH parents to find thier way here more easily.

I have happened across the old hearing impairments board a while back. My son has pretty significant auditory processing issues. Though he is not hearing impaired, he appears to be at times and it has been questioned by strangers. You all were very helpful when I did go there.
