Using Your Teeth to Restore Hearing Loss

I just read about a newer technology called SoundBite that uses a receiver hooked to the teeth, along with other devices,  to transmit sounds to the brain: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702303343404577516691819675900.html

Although it doesn't sound like it's a great fit for young children, it could be an option as they mature.  Are you familiar with this device?
