Check In and Update Me, Please!

Hi Everyone,

I know there is a great group of "regulars" here ( arhawg, windspirit82, leonacameron, at_joy, zions_daughter, your awesome CL's, and many more!) and I want to make sure each and every one of you are able to log in and post like normally.

So please update me here on your specific issues and if you're not able to even post, trying PM'ing me or email: policy@mail.ivillage.com. You can also check here for updates:

If you just want to post and complain, well, that's okay too! Wink I know things are frustrating right now but I PROMISE, it's just temporary. Our tech team is working like crazy to get all the kinks ironed out for us.

I can log in without an issue, but posting isn't quite the same and I'm getting used to these particular glitches for now: No quick reply when I'm the first to reply in a thread, no paragraphs in quick reply, incorrect reply to information and having the page go to my new post rather than remain where I was on the page (so that I can continue reading and replying as I go). I'm fairly sure you know about these issues, but I thought that I'd write them out just in case.

I'm also one of the users who can't change any preferences because of the "email blah@blah.com is already taken" error. I keep trying every day just in case it's fixed since I do have certain preferences I'm missing, and I'd like to update my siggy. (I can only see one siggy so far from tpcm, one of my regulars over at Christian Bookshelf. No other siggies or avatars are visible.)

For the record, I use Chromium and Firefox in Linux. I should boot into Windows to see whether any of these issues are browser-related...

I used to post daily or at least a few times a week to everything posted but haven't been able to do hardly anything since the switch. My desktop computer that I use primarily runs Chrome & Firefox and in either of those I can see the initial post of the thread but it doesn't allow me to comment or do anything about my settings- that side bar isn't even on the screen. On our laptop that we use for our kids school I can see a bit more & post, sometimes. If I try to log in with my email address it says I am not authorized to post comments, if I log in using my username then I can post but not use WYSIWYG. Not being able to do ANYTHING on the desktop is killing it for me though because our laptop is older & slower & usually in use by someone else.

Angie, I'll post this on FB too so you can see it - try IE. I know, it's the browser that never worked with iVillage, but this time it just might. When I booted into Windows just now, I discovered it could be a temporary solution. (Colour me surprised!)

Lisa, I made a discovery while in Windows - Chrome sends me to the mobile site! There's no link to get to the regular site, so I'm stuck seeing things as Angie described. IE works, though, so I'd use that until things are fixed for Chrome. (Forgot to check with Firefox, just assumed it would do the same.)

Hmmm I think if I use plain text IE is letting me in....maybe.....

Hey Lisa. Thanks for coming to check on us. It is a bit frustrating, but I know everything is getting worked on as fast as possible. All my issues are the same as everybody else. The most frustrating for me is having to go back and find where you left off after replying to somebody. That slows me down way too much, so I haven't been able to post as much as I used to.

Oh, I do have a question though. When everything is ironed out, will the threads that have no posts float to the top again? Or am I missing something I need to hit to make that happen? I am not tech savvy, ask any of the ladies here. ;)

Thanks!! It's super-helpful for us to know the specific issues all of you are still having. Here are my replies:

Zions_daughter: Ironically, I have the MOST success using Chrome- go figure, lol! Chrome sending to the mobile site is a new one! I will definitely pass that on! How can you tell it's sending you to the mobile site? (It doesn't do that for me so just trying to get all the correct information). I'll also let them know you're one of the ones whose getting the "email is already taken" error.

Calebsmoma2000- I can totally relate to the (kids) laptop issue- ours is always being used too! Besides being slower, is there anything else different about it? Does it use I different operating system than your desktop computer? (Windows XP vs Windows 2000, for example?). It's also really odd that you get such different error messages when you log in with your username than with your email. The "can't use WYSIWYG" is a totally new one to me! Do you remember exactly what the error said?

Jewel_0108: I agree, I miss the feature where it remembers where you left off reading too! It's definitely on the list but  just not as high priority as fixing the issue with members not seeing replies, for example. Having post automatically float to the top is also "on the list" BUT in the meantime, you can do this manually. At the bottom of each message, you'll see "Options"- click on "float this thread to the top" and it will float it for you.

Again, thank you, thank you, thank you, for hanging in there with us!!

I also *just* learned about a cool new option that will sort topics by time of most recent post. (Thanks CMMelissa!).

It's under "Edit my preferences" (right hand side of page), then click on the "general" tab. Click the box that says " sort topics by time of most recent post".

I was using Chrome in Windows 7 64-bit. There was no sidebar and instead a menu button at the top right. Looked like a simplified version of the regular site, and it had the no replies visible problem as well, leading me to conclude that it was the mobile site. :)
