Hi Everyone,

I know there is a great group of "regulars" here ( arhawg, windspirit82, leonacameron, at_joy, zions_daughter, your awesome CL's, and many more!) and I want to make sure each and every one of you are able to log in and post like normally.

So please update me here on your specific issues and if you're not able to even post, trying PM'ing me or email: policy@mail.ivillage.com. You can also check here for updates:

If you just want to post and complain, well, that's okay too! Wink I know things are frustrating right now but I PROMISE, it's just temporary. Our tech team is working like crazy to get all the kinks ironed out for us.

I tried going into my preferences this morning to do the trick you told us about.  Today, I can not get in there with IE, Chrome, or FF.  I'm hoping it is being worked on, and that is why I can't get in at all.

Also, woohoo to getting less popups soon.  I'm going batty with these things popping up!  :)

Thanks for checking in on us :) I am sad to see all the different posting issues because it's really impacted the activity on the board. For me, the mobile site only works when i hold my tablet in landscape mode--otherwise it only shows the top post. The lack of paragraphs in quick reply is a bit frustrating too. My biggest complaint is that there's no way to get to the newest posts only--for example, if i want to go read ltp, i have to click over to the last pages and find my spot. If there's a way around this, please let me know. But with that glitch it's really hard to find my place and post when i'm working with limited time.

That's really interesting about the landscape mode as a temporary work-around! I wonder if it's related to this somehow?

I miss the "thread memory" function too (where it remembers where you left off reading in a thread). It's something that in time our tech team can build back in but it's just not as high of a priority as other issues right now, such as some members still not being able to log in.

I have a small workaround option for this - it's not quite a good but it helps some. Under the original post but before the first reply you'll see "thread options". You can select newest to oldest and it will temporarily show you the newest replies in the thread first. It's temporary b/c once you leave the thread and come back to it, it reverts back to its' default setting- oldest to newest. It's not quite as good as thread memory b/c the newest reply might not be the newest reply that you've read but it does help avoid going through pages of older, longer threads.

Arhawg- the "inability to save preferences" bug is definitely on the list. The character limit for signatures is definitely going away. And good news on the pop-up ads: we've passed along our members' feedback and the number of pop up ads will be decreasing soon!

Thanks again for continuing to update me and for hanging in there!

okay same as everyone else...

I just went to do the most recent post trick and this is what I get after hitting save

  • The specified passwords do not match.
  • Only numbers are allowed inNumber of replies per conversation page.
  • The e-mail addressarhawg@aol.comis already taken.
  • The signature is too long: it must be255characters or less.
  • Your current password is missing or incorrect; it's required to change thePassword.

I also see in the preview box my siggy (not in the threads but editting preferences) but it is only the rotating one and none of the blinkies or lilypad stuff. but I don't see the siggy in the threads.

and I know it is "paying" for IV but i do not enjoy the ads popping up in the middle of my screen everytime I refresh

Lindy, it's too bad I couldn't rotate my Chrome window to landscape when it apparently took me to the mobile site. ;)

I was using Chrome in Windows 7 64-bit. There was no sidebar and instead a menu button at the top right. Looked like a simplified version of the regular site, and it had the no replies visible problem as well, leading me to conclude that it was the mobile site. :)

I also *just* learned about a cool new option that will sort topics by time of most recent post. (Thanks CMMelissa!).

It's under "Edit my preferences" (right hand side of page), then click on the "general" tab. Click the box that says " sort topics by time of most recent post".

Thanks!! It's super-helpful for us to know the specific issues all of you are still having. Here are my replies:

Zions_daughter: Ironically, I have the MOST success using Chrome- go figure, lol! Chrome sending to the mobile site is a new one! I will definitely pass that on! How can you tell it's sending you to the mobile site? (It doesn't do that for me so just trying to get all the correct information). I'll also let them know you're one of the ones whose getting the "email is already taken" error.

Calebsmoma2000- I can totally relate to the (kids) laptop issue- ours is always being used too! Besides being slower, is there anything else different about it? Does it use I different operating system than your desktop computer? (Windows XP vs Windows 2000, for example?). It's also really odd that you get such different error messages when you log in with your username than with your email. The "can't use WYSIWYG" is a totally new one to me! Do you remember exactly what the error said?

Jewel_0108: I agree, I miss the feature where it remembers where you left off reading too! It's definitely on the list but  just not as high priority as fixing the issue with members not seeing replies, for example. Having post automatically float to the top is also "on the list" BUT in the meantime, you can do this manually. At the bottom of each message, you'll see "Options"- click on "float this thread to the top" and it will float it for you.

Again, thank you, thank you, thank you, for hanging in there with us!!
