Let's give LTP a try--if the thread gets long, we'll just go into part 2 and then 3 and so on :) And the winner of LTP for this month is also LTP for 2012! So lets get to chatting!

Here is the recipe for Healthier Garlic Mashed potatoes:

2 pounds red new potatoes with skin, quartered
1/2 head of large cauliflower or about 1 pound, stem removed
3 cloves of garlic, minced
1/2 tablespoon salt
1/2 cup lite sour cream
1/2 cup milk, 1%
few cracks from a peppermill
Optional toppings: 3 scallions chopped, pat of butter
Directions Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and boil potatoes for 10 minutes. Add in cauliflower and continue to boil for another 10 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Drain and mash vegetables by hand or use food processor and pulse until desired consistency. Transfer to a large serving bowl and stir in the rest of the ingredients. Top with scallions and a tablespoon of butter. Mine made 8 cups.

It went over really good, Shayne and the boys had no idea there was cauliflower in it. One thing with the recipe don't blindly add all the milk only add what you need, I almost made soup out of mine.

The snow has already started, so we told Tim no Christmas shopping tonight - he had asked last night. I bet the roads will be iffy tomorrow evening, so maybe Thursday we'll go. Though I'm not worried, next year we should do our shopping the first week of the month in case the weather conspires against us. ;)

I'm using reply right now and it seems actually quicker than quick reply since it takes me right to where i left off.  I'll have to try quick reply to see if they fixed that glitch.  Somehow it also started letting my type outside of the box on just a random spot on the page (which was a little freaky lol)

I have half an hour left of work and all the filing and stuff is done so i'm chilling with my tablet.  Then dh and i are having a date with some japanese takeout and a movie :)

I'm a bit sore from shoveling yesterday and the forecast is for lots more tomorrow. At least I got a day's break between big workouts. ;)

Ben's gift from the party was a dollar-store wooden puzzle. I helped put it together for the first time, but I'm hoping Ben will enjoy it on his own soon. It reminds me of some Christmas puzzles the ILs gave us last year. Not sure where those are at the moment. (Oopsie!)

Your food all sounds so good! What are mashed potatoes with cauliflower?  That sounds interesting

Oh, and I forgot to comment on your story about the general anesthesia the other day--the extreme reactions made me giggle a bit and I felt bad for your poof dh.  My dh didn't have to deal with me much since he was sick but at least he made up for it by taking over kid duty when i was icky a few days after him

Ben fell asleep on the way home from the party and I let him sleep around two hours, when I remembered that he hadn't gone to the bathroom before we left the party. One bed soaked, but everything is washed and in the dryer, so we should be good for bedtime. (Whew!)

That's a lot to get done, especially with you feeling sick :(  I hope that you're able to accomplish what you need (((((hugs)))) and prayers for healing and energy

Ben's preschool party went well and he got the other mums smiling and/or laughing when he insisted on finishing his lunch rather than talking to Santa. He even scowled at him when the big guy came over to deliver his present to the table. Hee hee. I'm sure in another year or two he'll be all chatty and treating Santa as his friend, so I'm not worried about it. As long as he doesn't treat relatives like that, it's cool in my books to be cautious about folks he doesn't know well. ;)
