I read this article online (by someone named Dr. Mercola, never heard of him) and wondered if anyone has ever experienced this before. I doubt that I include too much high-intensity exercise in my days, but apparently it's something to watch for and avoid.

Yes I think it is possible, but I also think I have a long way to go before I have to worry about it.  :D

I do know that you should alternate the areas you work out; for example, upper body MWF lower body TTS or aerobic MWF strength TT.

But again that would be serious workouts, not just going for daily walks or even jogs.

I do believe it is possible. I think it is especially for those that go to the gym every day and live to work out. IMO, the body needs time to recover. On the other hand, I think a newbie can do too much as well. I learned that the hard way. My first time at the gym, I went all crazy running on the treadmill. My shins were in horrible pain for over a week. I think it was too much impact on my legs since they weren't used to it.

Leona, I was thinking the same thing for me - I don't do that high-intensity most of the time (except when I'm silly enough to tackle a fitness program using the game consoles) so I'm probably not in danger of overdoing it. However, I really do need variety since I just like to walk and forget to build up muscles!

Aw, I'm sorry you had a painful newbie gym experience. I think that's the kind of pain my mum was in when she got into walking to lose weight - she enjoyed her brisk (solo) walks so much, she overdid it! (Maybe the fact that she was away from the family and engaging in a stress-relieving activity made it super addictive!)
