January Chat Thread Part 1

Tue, 01-01-2013 - 9:49pm

I called this one chat thread because I wasn't sure if we wanted to continue the ltp tradition with the wonky time code issues.  So if you guys vote to still do ltp, I'll just edit the thread title :)

How was everyone's first day of the new year?  I got to stay in bed crazy late so that was a nice change since daddy had kiddo patrol.  And they were actually pretty well behaved :)

If you didn't see my fb post on peanut, she's now sleeping in her own bed all night.  Kind of bittersweet since it's the whole growning older thing but it;s hilarious that she's staying in her bed because she has a soccer ball to snuggle.  Odd little kid.

I woke up with my head feeling fine, but now it's starting to hurt again. I've already taken the sinus pain reliever so I have to wait it out, I guess. I also remembered to take my vitamins, the last of the low-dose pill, and the nasal spray. Go, me!

Hubby will be gone in a couple of hours for another inspection like he had to do over the holidays. Poor guy didn't get his proper Christmas vacation and needs some rest! He might take time off on Monday, but that would be to go with us to the pediatrician, as our experienced winter driver (since it may be snowing a lot).

The boys are currently arguing about how to build with their Lego/Duplo (not the smallest stuff) so I'm going to switch from the desktop to staying with them in the living room. I might have something on the PVR we can watch together and they'll calm down a bit... Not sure if I feel like exercising at the same time, but I may throw in extra weekend cleaning while Hubby's out working.

Afternoon all.

Cindy I hope that the party goes well today!

Becca, I don't have the boys do TY cards for Christmas.  They do say thank you and give hugs when they get the presents.  I hope that the appt for Tim goes well Monday.  I wish we had snow here.  There was a blizzard at my parents while we were all at the beach but our house got barely 2 inches...dh and I want a GOOD snowfall!

I have finished the boys quilt tops.  I need to work on dh's.  I also still have to put away the village...I really should make myself do that before I get to the quilt...okay you all talked me into it...I will start on the village...ugh.

Xander isn't napping today because dh promised him he could play the new Lego game dh got last night (Lego Lord of the Rings for the wii).  Xander WILL be going to bed early tonight especially since we have church tomorrow.  We are debating on taking xavier.  I can't decide, he is still coughing some and some runny nose.  Been on antibiotic since Monday...we haven't been in so long we may just all go...I don't know.

Darcy, your boys still seem pretty young for more than verbal thanks. I suppose I could have been doing written notes all along on behalf of the boys, but better late starting than never beginning at all since it's something I want to do. I'm not worried about anyone getting upset if they didn't get a note, just thought I'd give it a go. :)

You could always have the village up year-round like a certain household's Christmas tree one year. ;)

Hope Xander enjoys the game time and doesn't give you grief about an early bedtime. Also hope Xavier is feeling better tomorrow morning so you can all go to church.

My headache was gone mid-morning, so I've been busy organising the boys' closet and decluttering a little in the kitchen/dining area. I didn't touch the top shelf of the closet, but on the other shelf I found some Christmas books and puzzles that would have been nice to have recently (oops!) and the boys had a blast with the Trackmaster set that's usually stored in the closet.

I guess I am going by the if you thank them verbally when opened you are good to go...guess that is the laziness/cheapness (postage) in me.

Wasn't that said tree up for more than a year???  hehehe  I did get it down and in the attic.  The village is "The North Pole" village so it is snowy and Christmasy so it needed put away.

DH is not feeling great so he will be staying home with x tomorrow.  DH hurt his knuckle yesterday, finger smashed today, and jammed/cut his toe today...all different extremities.  so he is pretty grumpy and frustrated with life right now.  I have bent over backwards to be kind today hoping his "tude" would change. no luck yet.  praying he wakes up in a better mood.

I am ready for dh to go back to work so that I can clean the house and get things back in order around here!  Come on MONDAY!  ;)

I try to store all holiday stuff together...toys are harder but I have all apparel together...at least for the boys. Is it the Thomas Trackmaster? we don't have that track but have several of the trains. they will go on the wooden track (don't fit all that great but work) and I don't need more track here! We have the wooden and the take n play thomas stuff. It is taking over the house! :)

Darcy, I was initially just going to email and message by FB to give our thanks, especially for those who had to send their gifts without a visit. Then I thought cards might be fun for me, hee hee. And maybe more snail mail sent out will bring more to my mailbox? ;)

Good job getting on that village task even though you didn't want to do it. I was happy to clean up our Christmas things and get the space back!

I've had evenings with a grumpy guy here, don't remember a whole day of it for quite some time. You kinda feel like saying, "Snap out of it already!" or "Go do something fun so you'll cheer up!" ;)

The Trackmaster set has two engines (though I think it only came with one) and my mum contributed some freight cars too. It's the Elsbridge station set. We didn't buy more Trackmaster sets or trains since we got this one (Christmas 2009?) because it wasn't a huge hit then and there were smaller pieces. Now I think it's more suitable and interesting for both boys. I don't know if we'll get another set sometime or just keep going with Take and Play.

Well, the FTP uploading option is a no-go and I'm not sure why. Frustrating! I'm back to the slow option from last night. This time I also grabbed a couple photos from Ben's birthday that I missed adding just after the fact. My mum wasn't able to make it for that day because we were sick, so there aren't as many photos as usual and most are of the top of his head as he unwrapped presents. ;)
