Hey I have been looking for a place to chat with moms like myself. I don't have any sisters or friends with children yet as I am a young 22 year old mother. This site looks right up my alley. I am curious to know

Hi and welcome! This board is a great place to hang out with other moms and the best advice i have is to just jump in and post in LTP :) That's down in the Recess folder (if you scroll down the page you'll find it or you can click the shortcut right below the board description. LTP is where we do most of our chatting throughout the day. There's also a G2K (get to know/prayer partners) thread for newbies that you can join.

Oh, and I'm Lindy and one of the volunteer leaders here, so feel free to ask any questions :) I've been married 7.5 years and have two kiddos--Elijah (6) and Arabella Grace/Peanut (4). I look forward to getting to know you better :)

Hi, and welcome! I'm Jennifer, married to Erik for 13 years, and our daughter Leslie is 22 months old. Erik was laid off from his job at the end of October, so a job search is the big thing going on in our house right now.

These ladies are awesome, and I know you'll feel welcome here. LTP is too quick for my posting abilities, so I like the one on one time in Prayer partners, but you will find where you fit in best!

Wow that's not fun to go through at all. My husband was unemployed for the first 5 months of marriage. It was really hard but it taught is what we really need to live and now we don't buy things we don't need. I will pray for the right job to come your way.

Thanks so much for introducing yourself, I really appreciate it

I do have a question, since I have joined I have noticed a lot of shortforms and I am not sure what they mean.

Some of them are DD, DH, LTP etc.

What do these stand for? Are there anymore that are often used?

Thanks so much

I bet we're a little acronym-happy over here ;) so I'll give you the ones you listed and anything else I can think of at the moment.

DD - dear daughter
DH - dear husband
LTP - Last to Post (with a prize for the winner at the end of the month!)

DS would be dear son and we often use ILs for in-laws.

By the way, I'm Becca (33 yrs old) and I have two boys, Tim (4 yrs old) and Ben (2 yrs old). I live in Western Canada with my husband of 11 years (who just gets the name Hubby here on iVillage), a dog and a kitten! I always look forward to Christmas and I finally wrote a Christmas letter this year. (Go, me!)

Hope you settle in well here and feel right at home before long. :)

Welcome! I used to be a young mother once.... LOL so I can relate :) LTP is the place to be :) But you can chat anywhere on the board too.

I'm Angie, 31 (I don't often admit that!), married 13 years to my high school sweetheart, sahm/homeschooling mom to a 11yo boy, 6yo boy, 21month girl & due with another boy in February.

I'm Sarah from So. Cal. I pop in every once in a while. I'm mommy to Claire who is 18 months and I am 16 weeks pregnant with #2 due in May. I am a part time choir director at a middle school. I teach from 7:40 until 11:30 and then I get the rest of my day off with my girl. DH is working on his MS degree and we are hoping he can make enough for me to be able to quit fully when he's done but the schedule I have now is pretty nice if I have to be working. Nice to meet you!!!
