Rant!

I'm getting worn out with family members on FB. My sister's kids are under 13 and shouldn't be on there at all. A cousins child (10) was allowed to be sexualized by her mother's friend - the mother blew it off (the comment was on a pic of her daughter by a lewd male friend who said " teens with T***). My other cousins all make EVERYTHING into a sexual comment. Like a post I put up about beaver being a food in the weight watcher book - that was turned into slang for oral sex. Today my Aunt had outright porn on her profile. I reported her to facebook. All the kids that are on FB Illegally could see that fully naked woman, and probably open the video. I got rid of the cousin who's friend went on about my "tasty, towel headed desert Diety".

I really love many of my friends on there. Many of YOU are my friends on there. Friends from Bible college, friends from elementary school, friends from churches that I moved to far away to keep in contact with them all.

There's an option to hide all posts by individuals if you don't want to unfriend them. That's what I do with a friend of mine who's gay and sometimes posts questionable things. That way I don't see every little thing he posts, but I can still check in on his page if I want to since we're still friends.

You can hide their posts so you don't see them in your news feed, but it won't stop them from getting to your wall, so if they do comment on your posts, you'll have to be vigilant and delete anything that's inappropriate.

You can still consider blocking/unfriending them. I don't think FB tells someone when they're unfriended, so they'd have to search you out and ask you why it doesn't say that you're friends. If you need to do so, you could just explain that their manner of talking is offensive and embarrassing.

I know, easier said than done because I'm not facing this myself. I guess I just feel like I would say something if asked about it and would otherwise just quietly remove them from my online social scene, dealing with them in real life when necessary.

I didn't know you could hide a persons posts. I may do that. I have an atheist cousin that drives me up the wall. We could not be more opposite of each other in every single way! Her posts make me so angry sometimes. She is at least polite and does not made rude comments to me, or I to her.

I'm pretty sure people don't know when you unfriend them.

I so understand! my 16-year-old cousin is very athletic & she has developed early. I feel like I'm on her FB every other day with the bikini pics! & teens (some anyway) will friend almost anyone. FB should be so supervised by parents IMHO right up till 18!

Now that is cool. I have about 50 or 60 of my younger sister & brothers (they're twins 23) friends on there & I love em but they still drink to excess & post pics of d-r-u-g-s! Since I let DD use FB to communicate with our Cali & Indiana relatives there are so many sketchy spots. I have to sit right next to her & delete if necessary.
