Real or artificial?

I know the chatting is down while we wait for the bugs to get fixed.  But that doesn't mean we can't have a little fun while we wait.  :)

So, do you use an artificial or a live tree?  Why is that your choice?  Would you ever use the other choice?

I was raised on live trees. I LOVE the experience of picking it out, and the smell of pine in the house. BUT...I have been converted to artificial by dh. Partly because I love how the prelit trees look. Also because Julia likes the tree up pretty early,a and I HATE pine needles all over my floor. There is a very good chance we will do live trees in the future. I have talked to dh about it. There is a local tree farm that gives you a hay ride to the trees and you pick the one you want. Then they give you a ride back to the building, where you get hot chocolate while they cut and tie up your tree. That would be an awesome experience. :)

We have an artificial tree. We've gone that way since we lived in an apartment building that didn't allow live trees. We've never gone back to live. I keep thinking about the mess and the trouble, who knows one day maybe. Especially if we get rid of the carpet in the living room.

I don't remember years of having a live tree when I was little, but I'm sure we did because our artificial one couldn't have lasted that long! ;)

I prefer live trees and it's so much nicer in this house with the laminate, even if it is the cheap stuff. I do have a tree skirt that I'll use to keep any splashing water away from the wood, but the needles aren't really a problem when I can just sweep them up.

We do go for our tree about the middle of the month so that it lasts as long as possible. I'm used to taking down the tree on New Year's Day, but if the tree gets in our way as it did last year, we'll move it out sometime after Christmas Day. I think I'm okay with changing tradition on when to decorate, though in previous years I might have freaked out a little. ;)

I would definitely go back to artificial just for the pre-lit trees. I don't like doing the lights! Might need new ones this year along with a tree-topper that doesn't need to be held up - ours lights up and is pretty, but it's sooo heavy!

Cindy-that tree farm sounds so fun! I'd love doing something like that with the kiddos Leona-I never thought about apartments having rules against live trees. Was it a fire hazard kind of thing or were they worried about something else? Becca-yay for a live tree. That sounds so nice and cozy! We did live trees growing up but I was so happy when we switched to artificial sometime in high school. Although I must admit that I never got the same feel out of a live tree in Florida--hot weather and evergreens seemed odd to me : p And one year we picked a tree that ended up having a giant chunk missing from one side and that was a pretty fun memory. But now I love having an artificial tree so that I can just move branches where I want when we hang ornaments.

We've had some funny-looking trees before. Our first Christmas as a couple, there weren't many branches at all, really like Charlie Brown's tree!

Gotta get our tree this week, left it later than usual but had other things to do!

We have a fake tree. I have asthma pretty bad and was sick for Christmas every. single. year until my parents firgured out I was allergic to the tree :-(  Makes me sad.  I'd LOVE a real one. LOVE!

Oh no! That's such a bummer about being allergic to Christmas trees :( I'm glad that they figured it out though so you wouldn't get sick at Christmas--which is a major bummer!
