I heard this on Klove the other day while driving JJ to school. It really touched my heart since JJ is in a special ed class himself. I was crying as I drove down the road.
They were talking to a lady who teaches a special ed class in an elementary school. Her class overlooks the playground. One day, she saw a bully picking on a kid from her class. One of the other girls from her class yelled out, and the entire class ran over and circled around that child to block her from the bully. One of them then told the bully that he could not pick on one of their kids!
Aw, that's a sweet story! And very encouraging in a day when it seems bullying is everywhere - there are still kids who'll stand up when there's in appropriate behaviour.
I love that Tim gets so excited about going to school. There's something good about every day of a school week, it seems - either Computer Day, or getting to play in the gym (which was closed for October and November for roof repairs, so the kids don't take it for granted as much) and today it was Library Day. I smile whenever Tim is so happy about going to a place of learning. :)
Julia's school is on a 6 day cycle. Each day is a different special activity. She always asks me every morning what she is doing that day. She has gym (2x a week) music, art, library, and computer. :)
