What are your Easter plans?

I can't believe Easter is this Sunday!  It would be more believable if I didn't still have snow.  ;)  Dh will likely have to work all day.  So I will get up with the kids and take lots of pictures of them with their baskets.  Then we are headed to church.  When we get home, my parents are coming up.  We will do an egg hunt outside, then have a yummy dinner.  We are having ham, homemade macaroni and cheese, brussel sprouts, and rolls.  Then we will have the bunny cake for dessert.

What plans do you all have?

Our plans aren't finalised just yet - waiting to hear if there's an outdoor egg hunt Sunday morning in my hometown - but so far this is what we've got for activities:

- Friday morning outdoor egg hunt in the park close to our house.

- Egg-decorating Friday or Saturday.

- Indoor egg hunt at home Sunday morning.

- Lunch at the ILs' on Sunday (and I may stay home so I don't miss church service) with a potential egg hunt there as well.

- Hubby is thinking of taking Monday off from work because Sunday gets so busy, especially with the travel between home and ILs' place. If we have him home on Monday, we'd make a special dinner that day. (Pork roast, I think.)

Your dinner plans sound great, Cindy! I love when the ILs have us over for ham dinner 'cause they'll pick up cheaper and yummier meat in Colville, WA. I haven't bought ham locally for quite a while 'cause Hubby finds it too salty, but if we had better meat, I'd want to start a ham dinner tradition for Easter.

We were supposed to go to an egg hunt at church on Saturday with our friends. But I talked to her today and we are changing the plans. Her oldest dd really doesn't want to go, Julia has a birthday party 30 minutes after it ends and I will likely not have time to get her there on time. It is a movie party, so she can't be late. I'm also concerned about JJ being around a large group of people. So instead, I am now having the family over here. Caitlin and Julia will decorate the bunny cake like they have the last few years. I will run Julia to the party, and then the rest of us will have a lasagna dinner.

That sounds easier on everyone. I'm glad it worked out that way!

We found out today that the egg hunt in our hometown is on this year, but may not happen again next year - it's been organised and sponsored by one pharmacy for several years and that company was bought out by another, so the decision of whether to spend the money on it will be up to someone else in 2014. Since the event was already organised for 2013, it'll go ahead at least once more.

That means that Sunday may be as busy as last year, with our indoor egg hunt before breakfast, then a road trip to the other egg hunt so that the ILs can witness it if they wish. They've already asked for the boys to have lunch with them, so it may be mid- to late-afternoon before getting home again. If it's not going to be rude to do so, I would like to repeat one more thing from last year: my staying at home to attend church. (No one complained last year, but I don't want to insist if anyone really wants me to go along for that part of the day.)

It looks like Monday will be a calm day off and Hubby's asked if I want pork roast done with the barbecue. Yum yum, yes please! ;) (Hooray for good weather lately that we can bring out the barbecue for the start of April!)
