Good morning ladies! Sorry to be jumping in so early, I can't believe its September already!!! My name is Jasmine and I live in Michigan. DH and I were high school sweethearts and got married last July and have 4 cats. We both have always wanted a big family, and had planned on having both bio and adopted children. After 3 miscarriages, we are feeling led to adopt, and are preparing our paperwork to send in this month. Prayers for us, and for our future birthmother would be greatly appreciated!

I was raised in the church I got married in and still attend. I started dragging DH along when we were teenagers, before we were even dating, and this Sunday he is getting baptized!!! We are both very involved in our church, I teach Sunday school for preschool-kindergarten, and a Wednesday night class for 10-13 year olds. I'm also the singer in the praise band and on the Christian Education committee, which plans things like VBS. For the last 2 years, I was on the pastor search committee, but FINALLY we got an awesome new pastor who started in June and I'm so thankful! DH is a Sunday school sub and teaches a Wednesday night class for 7-9 year olds. He is our church's 'tech guy' and does all of the computer stuff. Sometimes it feels like we live at church!

We also do a lot of work for our local food pantry, walking clients through, and also fundraising at local events dressed as cans.

I work part time as a nanny for 2 kids. This is the beginning of my 4th year with them and I couldn't be happier! So even though I don't have kids yet I do have some insight to parenting.

Most of my constant prayer requests will be for our adoption process, and practicing patience, understanding, and forgiving, especially with my in-laws, and also with a few church members.

I'm looking forward to meeting you all and learning more about you, as well as praying for you.

Hi guys!Jasmine-i love your mommy in waiting blinkie! And being a nanny does give you a lot of great experience and insight. I worked with kids full time before i had elijah and for a year and a half after, and the stuff i learned working in daycare/school really helped me with him. I was more laid back and confident, plus i knew what was within the wide range of normal and what might be considered danger signs. And yay for being with the same kids for four years-that has to be cool to watch them grow. I'll be praying that God is working all the details together for your adoption as well as for your tricky relationships

Nicole-those are great requests and i'll be praying for you and dh and for your fam in general

I have one request-dh just took a new job and next week he'll be staying til 9 at night to do extra stuff to transition to the new job (he's switching companies but the two work closely together if that makes sense) and it's going to be hard on him to work those hours and hard on us to have him gone so much. So please pray for strength and a smooth transition.

Leona-how are things going? i still chuckle when i think of your 4th podium canadian olympics joke :p

Hi all :) I hope you guys had a good weekend. I have a prayer request-i talked to my older brother today for the first time in months and he told me that my niece has what they think might be a cyst in her cheek. They are taking her to the dr tomorrow to find out what it is, so prayers on this would be appreciated. My brother is not a believer, so prayers in that area are also very needed. I'm not sure what else i can say to him on the subject, and we live really far apart and only see each other about once a year, but he's been going through some rough times, so please pray for him. Thanks so much :)

Oh no! Its so scary when a child has a health scare.

I have a praise-yesterday, DH got baptized! I grew up in our church but he had never even been to church until I started dragging him along in high school. At first he grumbled a little, but then started getting really interested and couldn't wait to hear the next sermon or Sunday school lesson. And now, as I said in my introduction, he is very involved in so many areas of the church. He's one of those scientific minds that always has to know exactly how things work, so this leap of faith was a tough one for him. I'm so proud of how far he's come!

I also have a prayer request-I belong to the adoption board here on ivillage, and adoption is never easy. There are many hurdles and heartbreaks, for some much more than others. If you could keep these women, their families, and the birthfamilies in your prayers, that would be wonderful.
