Hi Ladies! I hope you all have an awesome month!
Good Morning Kyliee and Naomi!! I'm looking forward to getting to know you through prayer:)
What if we start out by sharing a little bit about each other?
I'm Shalena, mom to three girls Alice (6, on the 10th), Leah (4), and Hannah (1.5). I'm married to Scott, we've been married for 6.5 years. I also have a brother Scott, he is the one in the picture below, and another brother who is the oldest sibling. I've lived in the same area for my whole life (not the same town, but within the same school system). I've never traveled any further than the east coast, my longest trip being to Paris Island, SC to see my brother Scott graduate from boot camp (Marines) in 1994. Other than that we vacation up here in New England, typically Maine since that's where Scott's family goes every year.
Well, I better get going and finish up my play computer time before I do my chores.
For a prayer request.......
My husband informed me this past week that he wants to build our home this year, and at least make it livable so we can be in it for next winter. This is awesome!! I really can not even begin to wrap my brain around this yet b/c it seems like a mountain, but God says if we have faith as small as a mustard seed we can move mountains!!!! This also seems to be something God has promised me and I haven't really taken it to be a full promise I will receive, but I guess I need to start thinking that way, this past fall Leah found a fortune from a fortune cookie (I read all the fortune cookie fortunes and this one did not come from any of the cookies we have had in this home) and it said "you will be in a new home in a year" I took it as a message from God b/c like I said we've never had a fortune from a fortune cookie with that message.
So we have finally agreed on the floor plans, and now we need the money and time to build it!! Can you please keep this in your prayers for us :) We are currently living in a 2 bedroom trailer on a basement. Last winter the girls room had frost on the inside of the walls, our curtains stick to the windows and get built up with ice, our sink and tub leak, among many other "problems" that we aren't dealing with since we will be building.
hi girls... Im excited to get to know you both more this month :)
Shalena, We will pray for your house. How fun and exciting to have a new house! You must be very strong, living where you do now.
Naomi, We will pray for you to become the mom and wife God wants you to be.
My goal for this year is to become the woman/wife/mom that God intends, and that is my main prayer too. DH and I are doing the Love Dare, and working on being respectful to each other, at all times, and looking to God during hard times. We try to remember that Satan wants to get the better of us, as a new married couple, and especially since we have re-dedicated our lives to Christ. So my prayer is similar to Naomi's. I have a hard time shutting my mouth and opening my ears. My focus verses this week are James 1:19 (...be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry...) and 1Corinthians 13:4 (Love is patient, Love is kind...). I have been writing these every day, to try to keep them fresh in my mind.
Oh, and about me... Im Kyliee, 29 years old (ok, 30 on Sunday, but 29 til then!)... I was baptized in October, married in November to Kenny. We have my son Cody who is 12, and we have Natalie, who is 7 months (born July 1st). She is learning to crawl (army crawling so far), and during this post, Ive taken her away from a houseplant, the bookshelf, and I had to take away a leaf that must have come in on someone's shoe... lol... She is very curious... We live near Seattle, where we grew up.
Ok, done rambling... for now :) Im glad I have this great group, and I think prayer partners are a wonderful idea :) Im thankful for you all, even though I have been fairly quiet thus far...
Thanks for the siggies, Michelle (Sassypants75)!
That's great Kyliee that your dh is doing the Love Dare with you!! I'll keep you guys in prayer :)
Scott is adding up how much he thinks the "phase 1" cost will be, I believe phase 1 is forming the basement and doing the frame, I'm sure there's more to it though. We're gearing up for the spring season with his business. He has put an ad out so we can hire a couple workers for the busy season. Our goal is that Scott will be able to focus on bigger projects while we have the 2 workers mowing and what not.
Well, I can't be on here for too long so I'm going to go check other posts :)
Hey girls, checking in... Just saying hello and Im still praying for you both :)
As far as here, we are having trouble getting the Love Dare off the ground... however, we are continuously working on #1, which is being patient with each other, and not saying anything negative. DH tends to be stubborn, and has a temper, and I have a little bit of trouble being stubborn too-- its hard to be patient and positive, when your husband is irrational :) Like I said, we are working on it, but these things take time... Old habits die hard :) We are good at talking things out though, and lately, it usually takes less time to get from yelling to resolving :) ok, enough about me...
DH's brother was admitted to the hospital the other day and has now been diagnosed as bipolar. DH is having trouble with his brother being sick, especially because their father committed suicide when DH was 5... and my guess is that was quite possibly due to bipolar. We could all use some prayers for BIL, his sickness (and the correct diagnosis), and DH and the family. Thanks!
Have a great rest of weekend ladies! :)
We'll be praying Kyliee!! Wow, that must be stressful for your dh to deal with.
20 minutes until Alice's birthday party with her friends!! So tata for now :)
