Gosh, Erik would live on ONLY meat if he could! I have gotten really lazy about using leaner meat, but I really should. The fatty stuff tastes so good, though.

You lost 99 pounds?!?! That is awesome! How did you do it? How long did it take you?

How was the shopping trip? What kind of clothes were you looking for? Did you have fun?

We don't have any outdoor toys for Leslie yet. I should get some soon. It hasn't seemed necessary since she doesn't walk yet, but maybe there are some that would be fun for her anyway. She does have a swing that she likes, but there's not a lot of exercise involved there. She's also a little frightened of being outside. I'll take her out and just sit with her in the grass and she mostly just sits in one spot or crawls really close to me. A loud car or person goes by and she's done. Our back yard is basically just a hill, so there's not much we can do back there.

Do you have any plans for the weekend? I think we are going to celebrate DH's and my brother's birthdays with my parents, even though both birthdays were in April. My Mom won't let a birthday go by without some kind of gathering. Hopefully we'll also go out for Mother's Day. So I guess we'll be doing a lot of eating out :-) Fine by me!

I have been working on losing weight since November of 2009 after having JJ.

Ok, so what did you get from DH and the kids for Mothers Day? Did it live up to their excitement?

We had a pretty busy weekend. Well, Leslie and I did anyway. We spent a lot of time at my parents since my brother was visiting. Erik gave me two charms for my bracelet and some Gerber daisies for Mothers Day. We also went out to eat after church.

Congrats again on losing all that weight! I saw your post about that and getting a car, so that's awesome. I have been without a car of "my own" since DH was in a minor accident with our second car, so I've felt stuck here a lot of the time. Do you live in an area where you could walk to some places or do you need a car? Our neighborhood is definitely not pedestrian-friendly, so a car is a necessity to do anything.

Do you have any plans this week? Our church's Moms group meets Thursday, but in order to go I'll have to take Erik to the car pool lot at 5:00 a.m. We'll see if I get motivated enough to do that.

I am so tired. I don't sleep well on weekends, so Mondays are usually catch-up days. I'm going to go lie down for a while since Leslie just went down for a nap.

Oh, that book sounds sooooo sweet! Did you cry? I would have. I'm amazed when men come up with something like that. Erik isn't that creative, but I have to give him props that he almost never forgets to acknowledge a special occasion. When I worked outside the home, he always sent flowers to my office, and all the ladies were so jealous :-)

So how did you conquer your fear of driving? Just practice?

I didn't get a nap. I told myself that it would be better if I stayed up and then made an effort to get in bed earlier, which didn't happen. I got a second wind, which always happens. Luckily Leslie slept through the night, so I did get a decent night's sleep.

This brings me to a prayer request. I'm in quite a rut as it relates to my schedule and the amount of housework that I do. I've been staying up way too late and getting up way too late, and so little gets done around here. Sometimes Leslie wakes up at a crazy time like 4 a.m., and I don't feel bad about going back to sleep after that. But sometimes she doesn't wake up until 8:30 or even 9. She'll nurse and I'll lay her back down. She will jabber in her bed for a half hour or so, then go back to sleep for sometimes as long as 3 more hours. Well, I go back to sleep, too. I should either 1) make her stay up so that she gets on a more normal schedule or 2) stay up myself while she sleeps so that I can get some housework done. Or maybe read a book or the Bible. Basically, I am sleeping too much or at the wrong time, and I'm watching too much TV.

I will be praying that your friends hear something at church that stirs their hearts and makes them want a relationship with the Lord. The BBQ sounds like fun, too!

Oh, that's awful that JJ has four teeth coming in all at once! I've heard the incisors can be as bad as molars. I will also pray that they come on through so that he can be relieved of the discomfort soon.

We are going to Erik's folks' house Friday through sometime early next week. They live about 3 hours away. Please keep us in your prayers. Let's just say we're both glad they live 3 hours away. But seriously, they are kind of weird. We had to ask MIL not to say swear words around Leslie, and FIL argued with Erik about how we won't be able to shelter her from stuff like that. It turned into a very ugly exchange, and we almost packed up and left. They are also taking care of Erik's 95 year old grandmother who has Alzheimers. They aren't cruel to her, but they certainly aren't sensitive about what she's able to remember and they don't really try to relate to her on a level she can understand. It's hard for me and Erik to watch how they interact with her. Again, they aren't cruel, but we feel like they could be much kinder to a person of that age.

Ok, it's 10:45, and I'm REALLY going to try to get to bed no later than 11:30!

Hey Cindy. I meant to get on here earlier today, but I was really busy with errands and doing laundry before we go to MIL and FIL's tomorrow. Tomorrow will be packing and travel, so I will try to get back on here sometime Saturday or Sunday. We return on Monday, so I should be back on schedule mid-week next week. Didn't want you to think I'd left you! Please pray for our safe travels and for us to get along well with the in-laws. Thank you.
