The year does seem to have gone by fast! Not that surprising with little ones, though, 'cause time always flies with them - unless you're waiting for someone to finish his turn on the potty, that is. ;)

No Black Friday here 'cause our Thanksgiving was last month, but I'm hoping to do some of my research for Christmas shopping online, if not the actual shopping. Really don't want to deal with crowds! And I mostly agree with our plan of not having the kids present while shopping 'cause they'd see their future gifts. (At Ben's age, not such a big deal to me, but Tim's getting to the time of knowing and remembering what he sees will be his!)

I don't have many Christmas decorations aside from the ones for the tree, but I'd like to start adding some to our collection one of these years. Then they'd probably go up at the start of December, maybe right after Ben's birthday? (The 3rd.) We get real trees, so we wait till somewhere near the 15th before putting it up - don't want it to die before the big day! I do like the idea of having it earlier - I love Christmas! - but maybe with small kids and a dog it's not practical. Someday I could buy a mini tree to put up whenever I want...

Before the year ends, I would wish for... Ben to start walking! Is that crazy?

I'm with you on avoiding stores right after a holiday. Boxing Day (Dec. 26th) is a big day for shopping here, but unless we really need something, I prefer to stay home with family. (It was always our day to visit with the grandparents, providing the weather was good. Now my sisters and I treat it as a day to bring our kids to their grandparents - ours are gone.)

That tree sounds nice and if I thought there was a chance my hunting and fishing outdoorsman would go for it, I'd ask for a "fake" tree so I could have it around longer!

Do you have any gift ideas in mind? I feel like I'm already behind. LOL

I'm considering tree ornaments for everyone on my list (that I have yet to write) after remembering there might be an ornament exchange for this board... That would be simple if I can track down nice ones that fit my budget (also TBD). And I think a collapsible tunnel for the boys would be great.

Ooh, I should also pick your brain on gifts for Ben. What did you get JJ for his first b-day? Does he show preferences for certain kinds of toys? Seems like Ben just likes everything Tim has. LOL He does like stacking blocks/cups, new in the last few days, and seems to love to sway-dance to the more musical toys...

And now more to the purpose of the thread: What can I pray about for you and your family?

Dh and I are opposite. I want the real tree, and he wants the artificial. I do like being able to put the tree up early though, so it's all good :)

If you could please pray for the virus in our house to go away, that would be great. It is hitting our house hard. Both the kids have had it for a week, dh is just getting over it, and now I have it. The pedi thinks JJ has a mild case of asthma, and the virus is causing trouble, so now he is on a nebulizer 3 times a day for a week. It is so hard because I have to forcfully hold down his arms, legs, and body with one arm, and hold the mask on his face with the other. All while I feel like crud too. It's just not fun.

Anything you would like prayer for?

Poor JJ! And poor you, feeling like you're torturing him but knowing he needs it. May you all be healed quickly!

Please pray I don't worry about finances too much as we come into Christmas shopping season (plus Ben's birthday and replacing Hubby's almost-dead laptop). That's one part of the holiday I don't like...

Also that potty training will finally happen - I didn't feel Tim was ready before and I certainly wasn't. Almost seemed easier to change two rather than fight with one over the issue. ;) But he's really responding to Hubby's help on the matter so maybe this is it!

Thanks so much for the gift ideas! I did a little online research at Canadian sites and haven't yet found the racer (except in a French version, oy) and the wagon, but I think I've seen the drum in local stores. I like all three toys a lot! We've noticed that Ben really likes Tim's school bus that zips along on its own (one of those pull-back-and-let-go cars) and he's now fascinated by stacking toys, meanwhile I'm stuck on the learn-to-walk toys. LOL

The racer drives on it's own when you push down the bear. That is an older version I think, because JJ's is a white mouse or bear or something lol. If Ben likes vehicles that zoom when you pull them back, I have another idea for you. I will go hunting and try to find a site for you.

I will be praying for your finances this holiday season. It is always difficult here too. Dh tends to lose his good sense when it's time to buy gifts for the kids :)
