Hi Jennifer! So sorry to hear about your three cats! :( I would love a lot of land to have many rescued pets and horses.

I have really been interested in history lately! I was just thinking about doing a semester with the kids on local history, probably in the spring.

I have another year in school and Lord willing will be working from home. I would like to be able to continue to homeschool and help pay down our debt.

Christmas is going to be so much fun with Leslie. She is going to love it!!! The sights, sounds and smells of Christmas are the best!!!

Thanks for the prayers. I am recovering well. I think I overdid it yesterday, so I have been taking it easy today.

I feel blessed that you feel it is time to share what you are going through. I just started a bible study class and we are working through The Power of a Praying Wife together. I will be praying for the lines of communication be open for both of us with our Dh's. Praying all went well today and that you both felt the Lord's leading in the decision of life insurance.

What was the last movie you watched?

We watched The Karate Kid the other night. It was more about Kung Fu! ;) It was okay.

Are you a coffee or tea person?

I drink more than my share of coffee. Right now I am on medication for my thyroid and it leaves a nasty taste in my mouth. Coffee is the only drink that takes it away.

Any favorite TV shows?

We watch Extreme Makeover Home Edition, I love HGTV and Grey's Anatomy.

I hope you are having a great day!!! :)

How are you feeling today? Hope you rested up after over-doing it the other day. Any news on the results of your biopsy?

I know what you mean about hoping to help pay down debt. That was one reason I had trepidation about quitting my job. I was torn between wanting to help my family by paying down debt faster with my salary and between wanting to help my family by being home with the baby. So far it seems like I'm spending a lot less money since I quit my job plus I'm not paying for so much gasoline, so honestly we haven't really missed my income. Anyway, I hope your mini session goes well and your remaining year in school is good and you can get to paying down some debt!

My story with DH seems like such a long one that I hate to even start it. But we do need prayer. Some background info: he used to drink pretty heavily, and we only decided to have kids after he had an "a-ha" moment and decided to quit drinking. He's done really well not drinking. I have to give him a lot of credit for it. However, he's had trouble sleeping for 20 or more years. He finally found a combination of two prescription drugs that work and give him a good night's sleep. The problem is how he takes and reacts to one of them. It makes him really hungry. So he'll take this drug abot an hour before he means to go to bed. By the time the drug starts to take effect, he's hungry so instead of going to bed he stays up and eats and cooks. He actually ends up staying up 2.5 to 3 hours after taking the drugs instead of going on to bed. This drug is a depressant, so it also makes him stumble around, and he almost seems drunk. He makes these big meals and big messes while stumbling around. I know he's not drunk, but he ACTS drunk and it disgusts me. It also is kind of a slap in the face. I'll fix dinner and he might eat some of it. Then after he's taken these drugs, he's making a whole other meal and dirtying double the dishes. For some reason he doesn't simply eat seconds of what I fixd for dinner. He creates extra work for me with the clean u and it seems like he doesn't appreciate what I made. I'm also wondering if this is what we're going to teach Leslie, that it's ok to fix another meal even though Mommy already made it once? Another big thing about it is that we've agreed that he shouldn't be handling Leslie while he takes the drugs because he's unsteady on his feet. So what he's effectively doing is making himself unavailable for helping me with Leslie or even just spending time with her for the evening. He NEEDS to go to bed early because he has to get up at 3:30 a.m. for work. But to me, if he's NOT going to go to bed, he should be available for helping with Leslie and giving her the attention she wants from him. Well, anyway, this problem is so big to me that I don't even know if I made the points that I wanted to make about it.

Gosh, I can't even remember the last movie I watched. Oh, yeah! We went to a showing of "North By Northwest" at the outdoor farmer's market in our downtown. Pretty good. There's such a difference between movies of today and those of the 1950's and 1960's.

I'm definitely more of a tea person. I can't stand the taste of coffee, but I do like cappucino. We don't even own a coffee maker. I love sweet iced tea in the summer, and I drink some hot tea in cool weather.

I have too many favorite TV shows ;-) I like The Office, What Not to Wear, Law and Order: SVU, most HGTV shows. My all-time favorite show is Little House on the Prairie, followed by The Walton's as a close second. Sometimes I catch Little House on the Hallmark Channel but I don't know if The Walton's are on anywhere.

I'm glad you're good at thinking of other questions to ask, because I'm not. I'm sorry this post is all about me.

Hi Jennifer! Thanks so much for sharing with me about what is going on with you and DH. I will be praying for the Lord to open his eyes to what the evening looks like when he takes the medication and then doesn't go to sleep and for him to understand how it makes you feel. That is difficult not getting any help! Praying for the Lord to make it possible for him not to need them at all.

I can relate to what medication can do someone. My Dad was a drinker and was on a few medications for depression and he would slur and be unsteady on his feet too.

Woohoo for spending less money now that you are home! That is awesome! You and Leslie are making memories. I miss those days when everything is a discovery! They just light up!!! So great to be able to start new family traditions and share with her the traditions you had growing up.

I love older movies and way too many TV shows. LOL! I love Little House on the Prairie. I am planning on reading the books to the kiddos this school year or next.

No worries about not asking questions or posting about yourself. I like getting to know you better!!!

No news on the biopsy. Hoping that means good news! :P

What is your favorite Thanksgiving side dish?

What is your favorite Sesame Street character?

Hot chocolate or hot apple cider?

Any weekend plans?
I hope you are having a fabulous Friday!!!

Hi Jennifer! This weekend was very productive. I took my quiz for my college class and did pretty well. I was able to read the next chapter and do some of the exercises while DH was installing our closet organizer. It looks great and I actually don't mind putting away my clothes now. ;) I wonder if that will wear off. LOL! Dh got called into work and I played board games with the kids. We played Trouble, Clue and Connect Four.

I do feel a lot better. I have an appt with my doctor on Thursday.

I do the muttering sometimes under my breath too. You are not alone in that. I find myself praying out loud to God about how DH gets on my nerves. I will be praying for you both and your marriage.

I prefer the TV series to the books too. Butchering is difficult to read about. I don't think DD is going to like that since she is such an animal lover.

Thanksgiving side dish: My MIL makes sauerkraut in the crock pot all day with drippings from the turkey. (We won't be having that this year because I am hosting)

Sesame Street character: Grover is one of my favorite SS characters.

hot chocolate or hot apple cider: I agree about not turning down chocolate in any form, so my answer is hot chocolate with lots of mini marshmallows. Yum!

Now a question of my own: do you have any family traditions for Thanksgiving or Christmas? We usually go to my MILs for Thanksgiving and I bring the sweet potato casserole.

Christmas~We set up the tree together, make sugar cookies and decorate them, we usually ride around looking at Christmas lights and read about Jesus' birth on Christmas Eve after our church service.

We get up on Christmas morning and open gifts at home, go to my MIL's and then to my Moms. Christmas night we try to organize things and collapse in a heap on the couch. LOL!

What traditions did you grow up with? Do you have any you are thinking about starting with Leslie?

If you had an afternoon to yourself, what would you do?

I hope you are having a great evening!!!

Hey, I'm glad to hear your quiz went well! How much longer in your mini session? It's good to get caught up and ahead, too. I know I always felt less stressed if I could read ahead a little bit.

And awesome that you got a closet organizer. I don't have one, but they look like they'd make a huge difference. I think it definitely would motivate me to put my clothes away. Hopefully it won't wear off for you.

I am so surprised that you mutter about your DH, too! Thank you for sharing that you do it. I feel like such a horrible wife. I just dislike almost everything about him at times. I don't want to have sex and I really don't even want him to touch me at all. I just stiffen up when he touches me. I think I'm the definition of that term "frigid". Maybe I'll practice praying for him when I want to mutter.

So you're hosting Thanksgiving? How many people will be coming? Do you have to do all the cooking or will visitors bring some dishes, too?

Sounds like you have a really busy Christmas. We had very few set traditions when I was growing up. I have two younger brothers, and oddly enough, none of us were the type to run downstairs at the crack of dawn to see what Santa brought us. I guess our tradition was to sleep late and savor the day. Mom would usually make us French toast, no matter what time we got up :-) Also, my grandparents came to our house to watch us open presents from the time I was a little tiny girl, and before any other grandkids were born. They continued that tradition even after more were born right until their last one or two Christmases when they physically couldn't get out. Looking back, I really cherish the fact that they did that, having several other grandkids. However, I think the other families got up really early to open presents, so it made it easier for them to come to our house. After presents were opened we would have another meal, and then in the evening us kids would go back downstairs and just look over what we got.

I don't know what traditions we might start with Leslie. My Dad read us the Christmas story from Luke, so I imagine we'll do that with her, too. But we might just let her personality emerge over the next year or two and see what kind of traditions we can start. I do hope to get her at least one ornament every year, so decorating the tree will probably be a fun thing with her eventually.

That is so funny that you asked what I'd do with an afternoon to myself! I've literally been daydreaming about this, hoping one day that I'll have the opportunity. My Mom is good about keeping Leslie, but it's usually because I have a dr. appt. or an errand to run. Now my Mom has hurt her back and hasn't been able to keep her. So anyway, I've been looking forward to the day she can! In my daydream it's rainy, dark, and cold. First thing I'd do is light a bunch of candles. Then I'd cuddle up under a soft blanket and just watch the rain and stare out the window. Then I'd paint my finger nails and toe nails. Then I'd order in a bunch of food and pig out. Then I'd get under my electric blanket and take a long nap. Aaaahhh!!! What about you?

I'll be thinking of you and praying for you, and hoping to hear good news on Thursday after your appt.

Hi Jennifer! The muttering has turned into out loud complaining to God about how much I have to put up with. LOL! I am glad that God understands and has a sense of humor. My DH has been stressed about changes at work. EEEKKK!

My final exam for this session is the 19th! So right before Christmas. So that week before Christmas is going to be crazy! ;)

I can't believe we are hosting. DH and I went out last night to get some groceries for the day. He is making the rolls and stuffing. We did order a meal from Giant that is supposed to feed 6-8 people. Our guest list is my oldest ds, his girlfriend, my terrific two, DH and I, my MIL and maybe my Mom. I haven't heard from my older dd about her plans. So there may be one more!

I have two younger brothers too! I wish we were close. ;(

I am lucky that my two do sleep in on Christmas Day. We usually wake them up so that we can have some time together in the morning to open gifts and eat before going to my MILs house.

I would love an afternoon to myself as well. Probably why I asked the question. I would love to curl up on the couch and watch Hallmark movies or read. Maybe knit or crochet a little, eat yummy chinese food and take a nap. Sounds like our days are similar. :)

No news today. My doctor got called to a delivery while I was waiting to talk with her. She said she will call me with my results. The nurse said she just got the results back and that there isn't bad news. I am happy about that!

Thanks for the prayers. I have been keeping you in mine as well.

What is your favorite season?

What is your favorite dessert?

What is your favorite restaurant?

Hi, Angie. It seems like a long time since I've written (typed), but I see it was only Thursday. Since we will be at my MIL's all week, I may not be able to write much this week. I'll try to jump on when possible.

Whew! PTL! No bad news on your medical report! Answered prayers!

Favorite season - Winter. I love cold, drear, snow, leafless trees, etc. Unfortunately we don't get a lot of snow here and winters are quite mild in general. I live in TN. But I hate summer and love winter.

Favorite dessert - Man, that's a tough one. I can't choose just one. I love Shoney's hot fudge cake, Carrabba's chocolate cake, brownies. So I love ooey, gooey chocolate stuff!

Favorite restaurant - There's a local place here called the Tomato Head that I love. They have pizza, calzones, burritos, sandwiches, etc. They have maybe 40 or 50 pizza toppings to choose from, and I always get smoked salmon, ricotta cheese, tofu, and black beans.

Again, I'll try to get on here through the week, but if I don't, I wish you a happy and blessed Thanksgiving.

Oh, your DH is helping to cook? That's good. In our house, DH would probably be doing the cooking and I'd be making the rolls. LOL. I hope you have a great Thanksgiving with your family and that hosting isn't too much of a source of stress.

That's funny that our afternoons to ourselves are so similar. We've obviously put a lot of thought into what we'd do. :-)

I have been a lot more conscious of my mumblings and mutterings about DH the last several days. I haven't stopped, but I'm just trying to think about him in a more compassionate way. I can tell this will be something that's hard to stop doing.

How is your study of The Power of the Praying Wife going? Are you in any other kind of women's group or Bible study?

So you've just got a little under a month left of class! I bet it will go quickly.
