Woohoo!!! It's almost fall!!! I hope that you ladies have a great time getting to know each other better over the next couple of months :)

Here are a couple of questions to get you started:

Do the leaves change color where you live?

Are there any special fall events or festivals that you're looking forward to doing?

Hi ladies! I haven't been a part of a G2K in what feels like forever but I'm finally getting a little more time to post so I am glad to join back in again.

For questions...

Do the leaves change color where you live?

Yes, they do. But not many around our house, we are surrounded by a Christmas treen farm so they are all evergreens.

Are there any special fall events or or festivals that you're looking forward to doing?

My BIL is getting married on Sept 25th and I'm very excited for that.

Glenda, how are you doing?

Cathy, having 2 under 2 is interesting to say the least! I'm usually pretty busy! I got lucky with Elena for the first 3 months. She's been STTN since 5 weeks, generally happy to entertain herself, etc. Now I can't say that is true for the last few weeks, though! She's still STTN but she has been getting mad whenever I put her down to do something. I think she's just very social. I find she'll do a lot better if I put her in the swing and pretty much drag that all over the house so she can see what I'm doing. I should have gotten a travel swing, not the big Graco one! ;-) She was teething as well, she popped 2 teeth over the last 2 weeks. She's also developed stranger anxiety early, her appointment yesterday was really interesting because she'd start losing it every time the doctor tried to take her. We ended up doing most of the exam with her in my lap, lol.

Honestly we have good days and bad days. Gabe is still a pretty needy child but he's getting better. There are some days where I swear all that comes out of his mouth is whining and screaming because he wants me to pick him up and hold him but I just can't do that all day long. Some days I can tune out the whining but when I start to feel like I might lose it, I turn on Veggie tales! Gabe LOVES Veggie tales. I feel bad entertaining him with a TV but it's not like we do it every single day for hours at a time. Overall though, Gabe is such a sweet child. He gives hugs and kisses now, he carries around his stuffed bear and snuggles it, and it's sooo fun to watch him learn and grow. He really enjoys being outside, I wish I could take him out to play more often.

I will pray that Andrew starts talking soon. I know it's really frustrating when we can't understand what they are trying to tell us. I don't think it's worrysome that he's not talking quite yet. Some kids really don't start talking until later. Gabe says quite a lot of words, but most of them I can't understand. They all kind of sound alike, if that makes sense. The only reason I can tell the difference between a lot of his words is because he'll point to what he's trying to say. The only word that I have no problem undersanding is Dada, and even that he'll shorten to Da sometimes. He still hardly ever says Mom. I think more important at this age is comprehension. If he understands some basic directions I wouldn't worry.

Gabe has been surprising me a lot lately with what he actually understands. He can go and get almost any object I ask for now. If I ask him if he's hungry or if he wants a snack he goes right to the pantry. But if I ask him if he's ready for lunch, he goes to his high chair. And now this last week if I ask him if he's ready for dinner he goes to the chair we have his booster seat in. We still use the high chair for lunch - I lower the high chair and wheel it into the living room and feed him there, but at dinner time I put Elena in the high chair and he goes in his booster. We have a lot of fun going through his books and pointing at animals and objects. One in particular is a colors book and each page has about 9 objects on it that are within that color. He points at all of them and says, "That!". He wants me to tell him what it is. If I ask him to point at an object he gets it right about 90% of the time. But he gets bored with me asking him to find things really quickly, he'd rather me tell him what it is!

Wow, okay didn't realize this was getting so long!!

I will also be praying for your DH to get some work. I know it must be so frustrating and upsetting for him.

I also have a prayer request for DH regarding work. He is unhappy at his job and has been for quite some time now. It's too long of a story to go into. He's actually going to start going back to school this October. He's not leaving his job, he'll only be going to school part-time and it's online through Liberty University. His current job is good in the sense that it pays well and he knows it's a blessing from God for him to be able to provide for his family, but he also feels that God is calling him to something else. So he's starting to work on a degree in psychology with an emphasis in christian counseling. DH's ultimate dream is to work in some sort of youth ministry. These changes will take quite some time, we're looking several years in the future, I just ask for prayer that school + a full time job not be too hard on DH and for me to be able to help him in any way he needs. Last night I sat down with DH and offered to go back to work so that he could get a part-time job and focus on school full time. It about killed me to offer that, I can't quite explain it but imagining dropping my kids off at daycare makes me start to panic. I love being home with them! But as it turns out, DH likes the idea of them in daycare even less than I do. So we'll continue with how things are. Sort of related, I also ask for prayer that I can keep things organized around the house etc so that when DH starts school he will have more time to focus on that. DH is a huge help to me around the house but in the evenings he is really going to need to focus on studying. I have such an ADD disorganized mind, it is really hard for me to keep up with all the housework, even on good days where both the kids are happy.

Okay, now my long, boring explanation of why I've been in absentia lately.

Over Labor Day weekend we'd planned to do a minor re-do of our "main" bathroom (the one in the hall that the kids and guests use).

Hi Glenda!

That doesn't sound like a "little" re-do!
