Woohoo!!! It's almost fall!!! I hope that you ladies have a great time getting to know each other better over the next couple of months :)

Here are a couple of questions to get you started:

Do the leaves change color where you live?

Are there any special fall events or festivals that you're looking forward to doing?

Our last nursery director resigned, so for the moment our pastor is making out the schedule.

Hi ladies!

Glenda, that sounds like a lot of fun at the Bible quiz thing.

Okay, trying to catch up! If I miss anything, I'm so sorry.

Cathy, so I tried adding chicken to Gabe's mac n cheese and it didn't go well. I shredded it up pretty fine but he still noticed it, and once he did, he refused to eat another bite. Can you see me rolling my eyes?

Glad Andrew had a fun time at the zoo!

I am so sorry about your MIL. I agree, it does sound like she needs some help! I am sorry you have to deal with that drama, it must be very frustrating. I'll be praying for the situation.

I so know what you mean about having one of those moments where you just can't remember your weekend. They just go way too fast!

Glenda, I'm sorry you are having issues with your insurance covering Nexium. I hope the OTC one will help you. It sounds like you had a very busy week! I'm so sorry that AF being on the way is making you feel so down. I will be praying for you. I completely understand, because I tend to feel the same way when AF is on her way.

I'm really surprised that at your church the scheduled nursery workers just don't show, or decide to sit through the service instead! Even without a director to make out the schedule, that's just rude. I hope that a resolution can be made to the situation. I understand how you feel about now wanting to take it over. Like you I'm just not a 'people person' and I don't want to step in and be in charge of something. Last night we had a church meeting for all the 'young adults' of the church - basically the older leadership wants to get our imput on the direction we want to church to go in the next 10 years because by then most of the older leadership will have retired and it will be us in charge. Our associate pastor kept encouraging everyone to speak up so he wasn't hearing from the same people over and over again, but I just can't. I didn't have much to say anyway, but if I did I wouldn't because I do not like being the center of attention at all. I don't even like it when everyone watches me open gifts at showers, lol. I get all embarrassed and slowly turn red.

That is so sad how many grandparents you lost while your kids were still so small. I lost 2 of my 4 grandparents by the time I was 3, the other 2 were not very involved in my life. My mom's mother passed away when I was 10, then my dad's father passed away when I was 19 but he was so uninvolved in my life I don't have a lot of memories of him from before he got sick. Eve though we lived with him for several years. It's sad, though I didn't really know what I was missing. But it makes me glad that my kids habe all their grandparents and that they are all actively involved.

That is interesting you both had someone other than your DH in the delivery room. I only wanted DH there. I think having anyone else would have made me overwelmed, even though my mom is a CNA and could be helpful. I didn't even want visitors right away. I did have visitors right away with Gabe, even though at first I said no. I was so high on adrenelin and just pure joy, I told DH to let my inlaws in. I regretted it later, not because they were bad visitors but because I didn't give myself a chance to rest and then by the time I got moved to the PP room I was exhausted and EVERYONE was showing up. My visitors didn't stop until after 10pm. With Elena we didn't have visitors until evening (she was born at 5:38am) and that was soooo nice.

That's good that Ben is feeling better now.

Glad the quiz meet went well and your kids did so good!

Leah, if Gabe still notices shredded chicken in his mac-n-cheese, try a jar of baby food chicken (maybe not even all of it).

Okay, now for my update! I couldn't write it up after I sent my last post because Gabe wanted to play and had no more patience for me being on the computer.

Glenda, thanks for the idea of the baby food chicken mixed in the mac n cheese...I will try that. Until about 2 (or maybe 3?) months ago, Gabe was still eating some baby foods. I hated spoon feeding him purees but was glad that at least I knew his nutrition levels were not too bad. Now he doesn't want them. I can't blame him there one bit, purees are nasty. I just wish he had a more varied diet. I also haven't tried those Gerber meat sticks but I will give those a try too. Do I cut them up into pieces or give them to him whole? I know hot dogs are a huge choking risk if not cut up, so I would assume those are the same. He doesn't eat beans, but he does eat cheese (so long as it's shredded) and yogurt so I know he's getting some protein. I don't even remember the last time he ate a veggie. It was probably the last time he let me feed him a jar of pureed veggie. I did try blending up veggies in a pasta sauce but he's decided he doesn't like pasta sauce.

We tried PB&J again today. He actually ate some of it, as opposed to just turning his nose up at it. It wasn't even 1/4 of the sandwich, but I guess that's better than nothing. I hope he naps well, I hate the idea of him going to sleep without a full tummy.

We had the wedding on Saturday and it actually went really well. I wasn't able to get a babysitter and I decided against bringing the PNP. The ceremony was scheduled to start at 2 and while Gabe can usually make it until 1 before he needs to nap, there is no way he'd make it until 2. I'd hate to wake him up halfway through a nap and then bring him to the church, there is pretty much no way he'd go back to sleep and I knew that we'd be dealing with a very grumpy child. I set my alarm to wake Gabe up at 5:30 so that he'd nap earlier, but I ended up not needing to wake him. He woke on his own right before my alarm went off, and was in a surprisingly good mood despite not getting near enough sleep. I took this as a good sign, lol. He went down for a nap by 11, was up at 1, ate lunch and then we all got dressed and out the door. Just barely in time, but the ceremony was running a little late so that was good. My parents were invited so they were down for the weekend, which was such a huge help. DH had to be at the church by 11 to start taking pictures so he couldn't help me get the kids ready. During the ceremony Gabe did pretty well, as well as any toddler can be expected to. He actually ended up sitting with my next door neighbor friend and her 3 kids. He saw them on our way in and went to play with them so she just held him the whole time for me which was so nice of her. He really likes her kids and they are great at entertaining him. When he got too busy to sit in the pew, she picked him up and walked around the lobby with him. I need to give her a big thank you.

The wedding was beautiful. My SIL was just georgous and I love seeing how happy my BIL is when he looks at her. The reception was a lot of work with with 2 kiddos but it wasn't bad. Gabe started to get a little tired and grumpy at first but once the music got turned on he was his happy self again. My parents and I spent a lot of time running back and forth from the reception hall to the nursery where he wanted to play with toys, but it wasn't bad at all with 3 of us. I'm so glad everything worked out well! All that stress for nothing. :-)

Gabe had a nice accident on Sunday. Him and my mom were playing in his room, he tripped over her leg and went head first into the corner of his toy box. He's got a nice gash above his left eye and it's a bit bruised now. My poor baby. :-( He was fine once he got over all the crying, though. My mom felt just awful, but it's not her fault. Stuff just happens. Then earlier today while I was feeding Elena, he took the bottom basket off my three tiered fruit basket that is in the kitchen, tripped over his own two feet, and hit the other side of his face on the edge of the basket. I didn't see any real marks, but he managed to give himself a tiny bit of a bloody nose. Don't know what I'm going to do with that kid. Someone tell me when they start getting better balance! I'm going to be counting down! lol

The meat sticks don't have the thick skin like hot dogs, but you can cut them up until you see how he does with them.
