I didn't come back and update, but things have been going fairly well considering my mistakes. We'll work harder on sticking to a budgeted amount of grocery and other spending, plus I think we'll be using two different accounts to differentiate between bills and everyday spending. Should help avoid the problem that occurred.

We did make our trip out of town (currently on the full day here, travelling home tomorrow) but we're making use of the kitchen in our suite (off-season rates rock!) and brought non-perishables with us. We went out for dinner last night (with my order producing leftovers) and will get a cheaper meal for this evening from the grocery store down the road. (Which means we'll probably have leftovers for tomorrow's lunch. Sweet!)

I should get a chance to shop today but will only use cash for that - when the budgeted amount runs out, that's it! I can't think of anything for myself that I want, so I may come home with toys for the boys and the satisfaction of having walked around a large mall. LOL

Hope you're both having a great week!

I love that plan with the separate accounts! I might have to use that when we finally actually earn and have some money to budget with ;) I do know that i want to use the dave ramsay system and use the envelopes for stuff that are above and beyond bills. It's similar to what you described with your cash--when the money is gone, it's gone

I can't wait to hear about how your dh's surgery went and i hope that you have a bit of fun while you're there :)

The surgery went well and though the first couple hours were a bit painful, Hubby seemed to recover quickly and feel fairly normal. He was cleared to drive the next morning! (The wonders of modern technology!) He's still taking lubricating eye drops during the day and sleeping with eye shields, but that seems like an easy post-op routine.

I did have fun while we were away, but it was definitely good to get back home! I'll try to remember to come back to this thread tomorrow or Monday with some tidbits of our time away, but right now I'm going to be off to bed after taking medication to help with AF!

Shame on me for neglecting this thread so long! We're gearing up for the busyness of the end of this month and then holiday prep. Tomorrow our village yard-waste pickup will be mostly done for me (unless I have any left over for the Monday pickup date) and any further yard waste will go in a run to the landfill with some garbage from the garage.

We have a preschool Halloween party on Tuesday and I hope to have something yummy to bring the next day to my hometown playgroup. Then we might have family over on Friday and Saturday is Tim's 4th birthday! I think Hubby might make the cake again and I believe Tim's only requirement is that Thomas or another train appears on it since we did that last year. (And he insisted my birthday cake needed one, so Hubby obliged. LOL)

I suppose I need to shop for Tim's birthday either this weekend while Hubby's with us or one night next week so Tim can't see the gifts! How fast it approaches!

It's the end of the month already?! What?!

We're ending things with a bit of a cold but so far it's mild and hasn't caused us to miss any of our usual stuff. Will see if we should stay home from preschool tomorrow - I don't like being the one to bring germs to kiddy activities!

Feeling tired and achy this afternoon, but it's less than a week till AF shows, so that might be the cause. I wonder if she'd dare to come early even though the pill tends to make me super-regular... I'm definitely considering switching brands, though, next time I'm running out - the one I'm taking has a hormone that carries a higher risk of blood clots and I didn't realise that when I requested it. *Sigh* I just want the one with the least amount of side-effects!

Awww...i'm sorry that you're feeling tired and achy and bleck to the side effects of the pill. I was just thinking as i opened the computer that i needed to check in here--i tend to forget since i harass you all day in ltp :p

I have a prayer request but it's kind of more just that I'm battling frustration and attitude right now. I had to run an errand this morning and the windows of the car were frosted over. So i scraped them but as i drove, the windshield got icy again. The only problem is that there' s no heat, which mean no defrosting, and i got pretty frustrated because this is just the start of winter and even though we're blessed to have a car, it's just hitting me really hard that it's going to be a long winter trying to drive like that. So prayers for safety and for peace despite the frustration and that i'm still able to get to the gym would be appreciated.

Also, dh is waiting to hear back on several huge proposals they submitted--if they all get approved, Hawaii is that much closer. But most days i feel like we're going to be stuck here and while i can live with that, i'd rather not keep hoping for something that's never going to happen, so if hawaii is a no go, i'd really love for God to fill us in (if that makes sense) So, af isn't due here for a bit but i'm feeling as moody and frustrated as i do when it's coming (hence the whiny post)

Ugh, I don't think I'd be able to handle a car without heat. I'd be scared of driving with the possibility of icing over like that. You need a miracle car to come along and I'll be praying for something to happen quickly!

I totally get where you are with wanting to know for certain about Hawaii. It stinks that it isn't a for-sure thing 'cause it's hard to plan and prepare in that kind of situation - you can prepare physically for a move, but emotionally you're still in limbo. Grrr.

I'm a little moody and frustrated this morning because the boys have a bit of a cold and it makes them grumpy. They're not playing well together and I've been trying to catch up online this morning since I was writing yesterday afternoon and evening. Kinda hard to get things done when I have to keep pulling them apart. And then Tim wants to argue about it if I separate them. Oy! We're in a lull right now and I'm going to prepare a snack, so that should help for a bit. Might have to pull out movies after that because they were quite well-behaved yesterday while watching Cars! :)

Aww...i'm sorry that your guys are cranky and fighting with each other--those days are definitely tough. I hope that they chill out for a movie for you so you can catch up.

After my minor frustrated meltdown yesterday on the car thing, i turned to my buddy google and got some tips about de-icing without a defroster and i think some of the ideas will work. So i should still be able to work out in the mornings (fingers crossed)

I popped over to the bookshelf today to vote and i think i'm going to kick myself in the butt and get writing this month :) And posting on bookshelf too :)

Yay for the car help! Google is our friend. :)

Haven't made it to the halfway point of my word count today, but I'm hoping I can catch up Friday night. And write a decent amount tomorrow, too. Hopefully I'll have time for writing and reading this month!
