I am so excited about this. Recently I have been thinking about going for a degree online in Early Childhood Education. Well, the pre k teacher at our kid's school is retiring. This means that the other two teachers are both moving up a grade, leaving an open position in the 2 year old class. On Tuesday I had mentioned to the current toddler class teacher that if I had the degree, I would apply. Today she asked if I was seriously interested, and said they may not be looking for somebody with a degree, and said I should apply. I was headed to get Julia, and saw the lady from the school that I have been doing fundraising with. I stopped and asked her about the degree thing. She was so excited that I am interested! She said they used to want a degree, but with the 2 year old class, they may not require one. She went on to say that she thinks I am great and would do awesome. She said she was going to go tell the board I am interested. This is he same woman that was praising me at the board meeting on Monday.
So far, the other woman applying also has no degree. She is stiff competition. She substitutes for them now, so the teachers already know her. But, I can't help but get excited because I have a member of the board tooting my horn. :) Oh, this woman is also the wife of our worship leader at church.
If I got it, it would be perfect. I would be able to put my kids on the bus (we'd enroll JJ for all 4 days of the 3 year program next year, so no problem there), I'd be home to get kids off the bus, and no working during summer vacation! My dream job. I was told I could never move up in the school without a degree. I'm thinking I could do that online while teaching the toddler class. I' d be getting experience for a resume while doing my courses. I'm really excited, but trying not to get too expectant. If somebody with a degree applies, my chances would probably drop. I'm so excited to see what happens!
