Let me tell you a bit about me and my bf. I'm agnostic and Matt (bf) has had horrible experiences with so-called Christian foster families. So our child will not be raised Christian. But my entire family is Christian in a major way.
We live with my parents until we can get enough money and help to get our own place. (got pregnant during college. lol college kids have no money) My parents aren't that bad and won't shove it down our throats, but I am worried about the rest of the fam. Everyone is so close to each other and will expect us to be so not going to family functions is out. (Everyone lives close to each other as well.)
Every time I'm around them, God is mentioned in some way. More than once. Bibles and crosses are normal. It's not the lifestyle I want for my kid. My family doesn't even like his name (Damien) b/c its so close to Demon.
Welcome to the board!
I'm in a similar situation in that my family is "religious," but they're a melting pot of religions. They really only get together for major holidays or birthdays. A few have just started attending a bible-based Christian church and are very enthusiastic about it. Others are LDS, but they rarely talk about it in front of the family. You wouldn't even really know until you notice they avoid caffeine. I've just taken a step back from my family until the newness of it all wears off or at least until they can manage to reign it in a bit.
