Wow, I was born, grew up and still live near New York City, it is hard to for me believe such nonsense happens, but my wife who grew up in Nebraska and spent early adulthood in Utah says it does.
Is there anyone on the area with kids in the school remotely sympathetic?
Thanks! I wish I had a success story to tell, but the saga continues. I've taken the afternoon off to go to the school and get the necessary schedule and textbooks. I will have to try to find out about buying a uniform for PE and if they will get a locker for their things.
I will say that middle school in general is a little caotic. Staff don't really want to deal with parents at all whether they are religious or not. The office staff often don't have information on lockers and P.E. clothing. I suspect a lot of the information you are seeking will be available when they pick-up their schedules. I know in our district, P.E. clothing and locks are sold at that time. They fact that they don't have extended hours for working families is ridiculous. Do you have any family or friends who can take your kids? It seems pretty important that they attend this to get information.
As to activities, we found that it's entirely up to the kids to get information on this. It doesn't go to parents at all... not even on the email blasts we seem to get every week. Often, kids have to listen to announcements on the P.A. and get additional info from the ASB
Welcome aboard!

I agree with Shay, document everything.

I'm sorry things are still tough.
