My priest always asks me to say it, but I have been to confession before and not been asked or told to say it after I left along with my penance.

I think contrition is a necessary part of the sacrament.... wonder why the priest forgot? but I would say it anyway

Not all priests IME have asked me to recite the Act of Contrition.

I'm doing pretty good myself. My oldest DS is headed to High School next year. They've been pretty sheltered in our "nearby Catholic school", but I think high school will be in the public system. The high school that we are zoned for has a technology program/academy and we are keeping our fingers crossed that he gets into that.

My "baby" will be a teenager at the end of this month. It hardly seems possible! They were both making their First Confessions and First Communions just yesterday.

When my oldest made his first confession, they had the parents go in first. To show the kids we would come out alive, I guess.

GO girl! ;-)
