How was it? Did you find yourself hurried in preparation for Easter? Have you had a special encounter with Christ this week? What do you hope for next week?

Not bad at all. I've made it to 6:30 Mass twice (this morning should make 3x), and Mass with my child's class once. I really love the Daily Mass. Such a nice way to start the day. And terrible as it sounds, without my children, I can actually focus and pray. The hardest part has been rearranging my morning routine, so that I can be done eating an hour before Communion.

I gave up chocolate for the week. My assistant is having some issues to deal with this week, so I offered that for her. Hasn't been too bad; she's my chocolate-eating buddy, so I'll save some Kit Kats for when she gets back!

Gotta run!

This week flew by but I did find that our Lenten activity with the kids was very helpful in keeping it calm. Does that make sense?

Anyway, we wrapped up an 18 month adventure is "Our Fathers Plan" in bible study. We are taking a mini break from bible study and going to begin a short Lenten Retreat. That will be a nice way to wrap up Lent in preparation for Holy Week.

We've kids about the same age ... so I'm going to pick your brain on this. What's this "Father's Plan" thing? And are you preparing the Lenten retreat or taking it from somewhere?

By the way, cool of you to update your profile. ;-)

Thanks I figured it was about time to update. It's almost spring, eveyone should "clean house."

"Our Father's Plan" http://www.catholiccompany.com/product_detail.cfm?ID=225
Was really awesome. It has totally changed the way I view and read the Bible.

We are going to do a 5 part Lenten Retreat in Bible study (we meet for two hours) This one will take us almost to Pentacost. It's 5 parts but we have such lively discussions, that we'll probably have it done by August! LOL We don't get side tracked, we stay on topic, but we discuss and sometimes debate points. We do a lot of cross referencing of other materials and sharing of our past experiences. It is the most spiritually and emotionally fulfilling Bible study I've ever been involved with.

I made a Lenten calendar with the kids each week is a different theme. This week we will pray for the Pope and those in religious orders on Sunday. Monday's we will count all the in the house and donate that # of dollars to the poor box. (we counted pillows in the house the week we prayed in thanksgiving for the comforts we have. we counted all the CD's in thanksgiving for all the blessings of money we have had. we counted pictures haning in the house of our family member in thanksgiving for all the love of family we have, etc) Tuesday's we do a craft associated with the Gosepel. Wednesdays we pray the Rosary as a family. Thursdays we read the Gospel again and finish the craft if necessary (ie had to dry between coats of paint or glue) Friday's, Fish Friday and Stations of the Cross. And then it's Saturday again...family day, prayers for family love and thankfulness to be together. I have some community service things planned for every other Saturdays as well. (We visited a nursing home, collected cans and gave $ to the poor box, donated clothes to Cathloic Charities) I chose simple kid things, it is afterall ment to be kid friendly.

For the most part, we've stayed on track. dh and drill this weekend, that changes things a bit. I need to catch up on house work since he's been gone all week and will be in LA all this next week. I am making Easter cards with the kids for our family members. It should only take a day but with dh gone, it will take me two! LOL We are going to get started after chores this morning.

If you don't already get the Oriental Trading catalog...order one! You have to buy things by the dozen but they are so CHEAP!! I mail little kits of things to friends kids and cousins. I put kits inside birthday cards, Easter Cards, Christmas Cards, Halloween cards, etc...Everyone enjoys them! One word of advise...but Ilene's Tacky Glue from the craft store, don't use school glue. This is where I got all my religious crafts too. They have a lot of religious stuff.
