Anyone know/have experience with Faith and Life?

My girls go to Awana and I was just mentioning to a friend that it is too bad there isn't a Catholic Version.

CCD is the religious program for the children who don't attend Catholic school. Here, it begins in first grade. They usually meet once a week for 1-2 hours (depending on the age) at the church. They get a textbook and have homework.

I can't imagine that attending between Sunday masses would be enough. How much time is there between your masses? Is there another church near you that might offer a better program?

Nothing like leaving a post and forgetting to check it. I am not sure what CCD is, is that the Catholicism for kids? That is offered between the Masses on Sundays, but really is pointless. It is the parents running it and there isn't enough in each age group to assign a teacher or have real discussions. I took my girls out of it because it made for a very long Sunday morning.

Our parish doesn't do a lot for the kids either. I think there's a youth group, but I don't know the details. DS goes to Catholic school during the year. If he didn't, I think the only other thing for the kids to do is CCD.

Have you contacted your church office to see if there is anything offered for kids? I know that sometimes I'll hear about events from other parents that weren't in the bulletin. It seems like there might be difficulty getting the word out at our church.
