Remember way back when I was looking for ideas for a church alphabet book? I thought you all might want a peek at it. You can only view the beginning, but you'll get the idea. That's my Henry being baptized on the "B" page!

Check it out: http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/invited/321886/f23ae967c327c9e68f8549844dc6aad1

(Ignore the sales info. I had to offer it for sale to be able to show it to you!)

Thanks Monica!

As for a publisher, that site you visited to see the book published it. Basically, you download the software, create a book, and then pay to have it published. Then you can offer it for sale to others if you like. I don't know who the actual printers are, but the quality is very good. I think the cheapest books are around $15, for a paperback of up to 40 pages (if I'm remembering right). I did this in hardcover with a book jacket, and it was $26. If you want printing and photos on the actual cover (as opposed to the jacket) it is a bit more. More pages add more cost.

I really like it. I made a book for our Disney vacation, and it took about 8 hours, and cost less than buying a nice album -- and saved time over making a nice scrapbook! Then I decided to do this book for my godson.

I'm thinking of doing a cookbook, when one of my nieces or nephews gets married. I thought it would be fun to have everyone submit a recipe and picture of themselves and the dish, and then give it as a shower gift.

Other places will make books for you too. I know Creative Memories has software. I've only used blurb.com, and I really like it.

By the way, the kids thought your tradition of setting a place for baby Jesus is great! We've done it before with just a place setting, but they loved the idea of a sippy cup!

Polly, that is wonderful. Congratulations! The pictures are so nice and what a great idea. That is something he'll treasure his whole life and can pass on to his kids and their kids.

How did you find a publisher?

Ruth, I considered making some non-personalized ones and offering them to the women's guild to sell in its gift shop. I think they're great baptism gifts. But I don't think the price point makes sense. Maybe with your machine it would make more sense.

It was really very easy Sofia -- especially with everyone here brainstorming words for me. I think I'll revise it and make one for Henry.

BTW, I can get in touch with you through your profile, right? My email program tanked, and I lost loads of addresses.

Karen,

This is a regular book. You can choose soft or hard cover, and with hard cover you can choose with or without a book jacket. There are other book publishing companies out there, and perhaps one makes board books. I used this one for our Disney trip and found it easy to use and pretty reasonable, so I stuck with it. They only recently started offering hard cover with

I should have thought to autograph it! LOL!

So, have you figure out sour cream yet? I've been curious about that ever since you posted. Eating food from within 100 miles would be quite a challenge here unless I was willing to go without fresh food for many months -- but we've got dairy covered here in Wisconsin!

Jeanne,

Thanks! The book has been published. It was a Christmas gift. I did a book on our Disney trip with that software, but that's it. It is pretty easy to use.

Polly I DO remember - and I love the finished product!! You've given me an idea ;-) Some of you may know of my love for digital (computer) crafting. That includes secular and religious things. Whenever possible I love being able to create religious/Catholic/Christian things for use in my parish.....many of these I don't charge anything. The couple of things in progress are "tea bag envelopes" with a Scripture message on them, that will be for each of the women participating in our upcoming annual Women's Day of Spirituality. There are four different designs of teabag envelopes.
