Bulletin question?
Sun, 11-21-2010 - 7:28am

Don't know really where to put this question, but what info does your church bulletin contain? The reason I ask is that DH and I have been part of this parish for 4 1/2 years.

Our bulletin doesn't list those schedules. They are distributed on paper, but I don't know how often. The bulletin lists Mass intentions, baptisms and deaths, and people to pray for. The pastor has a column, as does the youth minister. There is information on outreach programs, and sometimes news from the school. There is a column on the budget. There are announcements about different activities -- K of C, women's guild, youth groups, etc. The front page lists mass times and contact information, and the back page is advertisements.

New people sometimes charge in and change things without realizing how well they work the way they are. Maybe you could give it some time and then ask her to change it back, once she realizes that she's thrown a wrench in things.

Civilian church bulletins are a bit different than military chapels; I've been members of both... and in Germany I was the Parish Coordinator. And I got the job as soon as I arrived in town not knowing anything about the community.. but there was an opening and I applied for the contract position and was awarded it.... and I'm sure I did things differently from the last person but the reality is that a military chapel is primarly for the active duty population and their families (which are anything but permanant)....

so that being said, I can't remember if I posted the next week's schedule in the bulletin or not... but it wouldn't have mattered because most folks didn't read their bulletin and few actually served when scheduled. I also sent out a schedule by email but

Renee, that's pretty much what's in our bulletin, too. Names, phone numbers, email addresses, mass hours, important upcoming dates. Meetings, requests for volunteers. The readings for the week, I think those are included as well.
