Our nephew, DH's Godson, has his confirmation today apparently. SIL didn't tell us (she has a lot on her mind) and DH only noticed something on her Facebook page.

Anyway, so obviously we need to send him something. Only I really don't know what! He is in grade 6 so, that's what... 11? (WOW, where has the time gone!!) I'm really not all that sure!!

I would probably just send him a confirmation card with money.

How about a book about his new patron saint?

They didn't do the Patron Saint thing apparently. My parish doesn't do that either... perhaps a Canadian thing??

I've bought lots of things from Monastery Icons for gifts. (Caution: place your order by phone, not the internet - the web site and confirmation emails don't tell you when things aren't in stock, and if it's out of stock, it can be out of stock for a LONG time.) They have beautiful Holy Spirit icons if the child hasn't chosen a saint whose image they "carry."

For my DD's upcoming confirmation party, she included a note in the invitation noting that she didn't want gifts but we'd have a bopx available if anyone wants to make a donation to the organization that her sponsor cofounded. I figure it doesn't matter whether we raise much money for it or not; she'll avoid receiving more doo-dads that she doesn't need or want, and anything we can give to this organization will be appreciated.

I know I've heard of others that don't choose saints names. their reasoning was the kids had a saint name from baptism but sadly there are those that do not...

Our youngest son chose his given baptismal name (Mark) for his Confirmation name. It was an option offered that two or three others also did.
