We have been married 20 years and from what I remember, we paid the priest something and the servers.

I'm just a few days short of 21 yrs... but the only required expense was to pay the organist.. our church required you pay the organist whether or not you used him (we did) becuase of the contract they had with him... then we gave a $$ gift to the priest and a tip to the altar servers......

I just read what I wrote about the organist and I didn't say that properly.... if you wanted the organist, you paid him.....if you wanted another musician, that was fine but you still paid the organist because of his contract... ... if you wanted no music, you didn't have to

That astounds me. I think we gave the priest a gift, as well as the altar servers. I know we paid the musicians -- that wasn't a gift. The church didn't charge anything.
