A couple of links re: charity

I wanted to post these before I take the time to post my "thesis" on why conservative economics is actually more Christian than liberal economics. They give a sort of broad foundation for what I am trying to get at.

Shamelessly stolen from Welfare Debate board:

"Not Yours To Give" http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=iv-pswelfaredeb&msg=1204.1&ctx=0

"A Christian Libertarian View of Welfare" http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=iv-pswelfaredeb&msg=1172.1&ctx=128

"How to Really Help the Poor" http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=iv-pswelfaredeb&msg=1182.1

I am not posting these links to draw you to that board. Heaven knows we have enough of a hornets nest over there already.....but if you spend some time there reading through the archives you will find tons of articles and statistics backing up how many governmental welfare programs do/have done more harm than good to the people they are supposed to help. Will post more later.

"Government big enough to supply everything you need is big enough to take everything you have. The course of history shows that as a government grows, liberty decreases." - Thomas Jeff
