...a Sunday Nursery for your Children while you attend Mass? How is it Run? I ask because, starting in Oct, I will be in charge of the Nursery at our Church. It was handled fine before but the woman stepping down said because her kids were getting older and because of personal frustrations about people not showing up when it was their turn to sit, she decided to step down. The arrangment is a co-op basis. If you have a child in the nursery then you are required to volunteer 1 Sunday every 4-8 weeks or so. I would like to change it and make it enticing and a fun ministry for these people. It is only 1 hour every 4-8 weeks anyway! But, brainstorming tells me to possibly call the RE Director and getting older kids on the schedule to babysit and get service hours in??!!..... I don't know. I have some time to think about this. But your input is appreciated on how yours is run and all...

TIA

LOL! My kids have never been in a church nursery, and it's not because I wouldn't have left them there, that's for sure.

But I remember at the church where I grew up, the Junior Catholic Daughters would take a turn once a month or so (or maybe we would just alternate weeks within the group) at working in the nursery. I always enjoyed it.

I think it would be a great idea to get some 7th, 8th grade and older kids in there to help. Be careful, though, that you are clear with them on what they are to do and not do! You don't want to end up with 2 sets of children in the nursery.

Good luck.
