Hi everyone, I'm not catholic, but have a friend who is, and her son is having his first communion, and is celebrating tonight with a cookout that I will be attending.

I suppose that the cookout has already happened.

My 8 year old made his First Communion in March, and little boys seem especially difficult to buy for. He got a gold chain with a medal from one grandmother, and a gold crucifix from his godmother. I think he got money from my parents. We gave him a rosary and a book about Saints.

So this doesn't really help you much for a gift. A Catholic bookstore will have some items for you to chose from - picture frames and what not.

I recognize you from the scrapbook board. Would it be possible for you to use those talents as a gift to help preserve the memories of this event?

Sorry I can't be more helpful, but this is truly difficult to buy for. Little girls you can get jewelry and more jewelry - but boys....????
