Here's what I would do: Have him wear a robe, or make a simple tunic if he doesn't have a robe. Tie it around the waist with a rope. Give him a carpenter's square to tuck into his rope belt. Have him carry a staff (or walking stick) or a hammer. You could also have him carry a lily, or make a fake beard.
Thanks, Polly. It was really fun to see how the kids dressed. It was optional, so not all of them did so. I'd say probably 25% of the kids dressed as their saint of choice.
